  • exceptional entry level snowshoe!
Color: Moab Size: 22
these snowshoes greatly exceeded my expectations! so much so that i just ordered a second pair for my partner! i found these on amazon for about $60, most rentals near me are $25-35, this is such a bargain!!!! if you're not sure about snowshoeing, you really can't go wrong with these! prior to my purchase, i had never gone snowshoeing before. these have been a great place to start! they are super easy to take on and off. to get them on, just slide in your feet and (first time only, adjust the heel strap) then pull the black cord tight - and to take them off, pull the grey cord and slide out your feet. SO EASY! they worked great with my vivobarefoot hi trekker ultralight boot, no discomfort at all. they are also very lightweight, i felt like i could more or less walk normally in them (just a slightly wider gait than usual). i bought the 22" version for myself. im 5'6" and about 130lb in all my snowgear, and these snowshoes worked very well for me. i did sink down about 5in or so in the fresh powder that was over a foot deep, the sweet spot for efficient movement in fresh snow around 3-8in deep, but deeper snow (1ft+ deep) was definitely still very easy to walk through. but if the snow was consistently deeper i might consider the larger size for more flotation, i'll try to update the review after this weekend when i head further up the mountain. and walking on snow that was already packed down was effortless! i did also hike through some sections of trail with very little snow, about an inch or so (and bare in some spots). this was okay, but if this was over rocks or pavement, i would worry about damaging the crampons. i read several reviews where folks complained about those bending over easily, but i suspect they must have been walking over hard surfaces in very shallow snow (<3in), and probably weighed considerably more than i do... if i can see the rocks with my eyes, i'll take off the snowshoes and traverse by foot (esp since these are so easy to take on and off!). i've not tried the risers yet for going uphill, they do look a little flimsy, and are kinda hard to fold back down, but at my weight im sure they'll work fine. overall this is a fantastic set of snowshoes, and i am very happy to have found these! the product and the packaging looks like it's made by a legitimate brand that cares about their product, and not just some fly by night china garbage. would i take these snowshoes on a 20+mi hike into the wilderness where my life depended on them? (lookin at you crazy hiker review guy!) heck no! but for hiking a few miles in the snow on the weekends, i think these will hold up just fine as long as i take care not to walk on hard surfaces in shallow snow. ps - don't forget to take care of your belongings! snow gear needs to come inside and dry off after use. if the joints get stiff over time, lubricate them a little. with a little tlc i bet these will last a long time! ... show more

  • Amazingly intuitive, easy to use
Color: Smoke Blue Size: 22
I was immediately impressed with how easy these were to use (I'm not a veteran snowshoe-er). I wanted to see how easy they were to use by bringing them straight outside to try them in the front yard (lucky that we were just hit by the snowstorms that were hitting everywhere recently, so I didn't have to go far to try them out!) without needing the instructions, and they did not disappoint. It was about as easy as putting on any regular shoes. Easier, in fact, since the two straps are tightened at the same time by pulling on the loop connected to them. Taking them off was equally easy by pulling an adjacent loop. The snow wasn't very deep, but they were comfortable to walk around in, although I wasn't able to see how it felt when it needed to keep me on top. They are very lightweight but seems to be of good quality, and they look sleek. ... show more

  • Great price on good snowshoes
Color: Evergreen Size: 28
Good snowshoes for the price. Used them twice while shed hunting in some steep mountains around 5500ft in elevation. They are very easy to put on and take off. They feel pretty durable. The riser bar for going up hill works great. My right foot kinda was twisting in the straps a little but wasn’t a big deal. Did about 2-3miles in 3-4ft of snow, not powder but settled snow. Felt great, worked like they should. Only thing I really don’t love is how heavy these are. I knew it going into the purchase but I had to get the 28” and the 4 lbs is definitely noticeable when strapping them to your pack. Definitely not a deal breaker. I’ll be using them again for sure. ... show more

  • Easy to use work great in the deep
Color: Evergreen Size: 28
Great set of shoes. Easy to get into and off. I live in Colorado got these as a Xmas gift. Got a foot of snow Xmas night so had plenty of it to shoe in. I recommend these to any one who has to live in the snow. A must have

  • These snowshoes are junk
I bought two pairs of these one for myself one for my son we went on a Boy Scout snowshoe hike. His ripped right at the bindings were the foot swivels up and down, and both of our crampons bent out flat. We were on packed powder, powder the whole hike. Don’t waste your money on these.

  • Once you get the hang of it...
Color: Arctic White Size: 22
This is the first pair of snowshoes I've ever bought, and even though they came late in the season here in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, better late than never in giving oneself a sense of agency. I have snowshoed before a few times but it's been at least 4 years since strapping on a pair of rentals. I decided that having my own equipment meant that, if the spirit moved me to get up the mountain, then all I had to do was put the snowshoes in the car and GO. The first thing that drew me to Wildhorn Outfitters snowshoes was, in fact, the price. Very reasonable I thought and then there was something about the design I liked, although I'm not sure what I even mean by that as I didn't spend a lot of time comparing snowshoes-- I looked at a few pairs online and came back to the Delano snowshoes and that was that. They arrived a few days later and the day after that I was off. I did practice with the straps on my rug at home to get the hang of the strapping and save time at the trailhead. I found the snowshoes easy on and easy off and a great pleasure to walk in and that's the main issue, right? I didn't get into any deep powder with these snowshoes so I can't speak to the rigors of that situation. I think for the price, the Delano snowshoes are a fine purchase. ... show more

  • Well, I'm impressed.
Color: Smoke Blue Size: 28
Yesterday was the first time I have ever used snowshoes (although I am an XC skier) . I went on an eight-hour mountain trail with varying snow and trail conditions and found these boards surprisingly easy to use - very natural/intuitive, great for climbing, really good for going downhill (very "cushion-y" and easy on my ancient knees). I had a lot more fun than I expected - so much so that I'm going on a similar trail in a few days. I could quibble about the bindings a bit I suppose, but they're decent at this price point, and it would be unfair to compare them to shoes costing $200 more. They fit fine with my size 13 insulated, winter hiking boots. A storage bag would also be nice, either included or as an add-on, but that's a minor issue. Recommended. ... show more
