    • Great barefoot style shoe but with padded sole

I've been suffering from plantar fasciitis for 6 months and read about barefoot shoes. I wanted to try that but want some padding. These shoes deliver. The shoe has excellent ventilation. Extremely lightweight. The sole is more padded and thicker than a barefoot shoe but is an excellent balance for me. The profile is pretty flat. No arch support - which has turned out to be great for my plantar fasciitis. The heel is NOT raised. Padding is consistent throughout the shoe. I have seen shoes with more padding but this is a reasonable compromise between extreme softness and a barefoot shoe. You can feel rocks under the shoe etc, but the sole protects. I find the flat shoe and lack of arch encourages my foot to land more on the ball or toes, spreading the load as my foot lands which ends up reducing my heel pain. I did some hiking with these shoes. They seem tough enough. The airy fabric did let some trail dust through. They are comfortably cool shoes. Regarding sizing - there are no half sizes which is a little unfortunate. I went a 1/2 size larger. They are big on me but it's still able to hold my foot pretty securely. I have probably excess room in the toe box, but thats nice. Not the greatest lateral control because they're so big. But comfortable for me. I also tries a 1/2 size smaller. It's a little too small. Still comfortable most of the time, except when heading downhill my toes cram into the front of the shoe. Overall I'd suggest going up the 1/2 size, but it may end up too big. After reading many reviews, took the plunge and bought my first pair of barefoot style shoes (these). I am determined to start correcting my misaligned toes, failed bunion surgery and painful arches that have ruled my life for too long . I am going from quality, leather, supportive New Balance...which is the only shoes I can wear most of a day without unbearable pain....to these shoes. I bought on Amazon without ever having tried on or seen in person so I expected a fail. Most shoes look wide enough but once on they are generally too tight or I can feel everything I step on. These shoes came wrapped in sealed plastic but just in an amazon box, no shoe box. See the made in China label. They feel light weight and pretty cheap but they are cleanly made....no sloppy glue, wierd seams or mismatched colors. I had to open the laces as wide as they would go but once on, they were easy to lace up normally. My 8.5 4E wide ladies foot fit perfectly in this 8.5 shoe with plenty of toe box room and height for my thick feet. My toes have about 3/4" extra space from the nose. The fit is surprisingly good and the shoes are comfortable. Then I put socks on which took up a little more room than I would like. I then put my toe spreaders on plus socks and the fit is still comfy but I would get a half size bigger if wearing toe separators with these shoes. So far I am very happy I did not waste the $45 ish these cost, however, I've only owned them for 15 minutes so I can't yet say how they feel on my arches after wearing out in normal life. I hear it takes time to retrain feet to align and build muscle to support arches properly. Hope this helps someone. 8 days of wearing and my feet don't hurt and are not sore from suddenly wearing shoes with zero support. My feet are tired though so I think this is evidence that my feet and calf muscles are retraining. I am very happy with this purchase. ... show more

I hate shoes in general. I usually live in sandals or bare foot. That being said, I love these shoes. I have very wide, VERY flat feet, with big toes that stick straight out, and that do not curve in like so many shoes want them to do. I joke about my feet being claustrophobic, but itโ€™s only half way a joke. I hate tight, confining, hot, sweaty shoes. These are light weight, breathable, and have plenty of room for my toes to be comfortable. I wear them mostly for walks, and I can get around my 3 mile loop with my feet still happy and not feeling like pain stumps. As was often the case with the shoes I was using previously. The reasons I didnโ€™t give these 5 stars is because there is no arch support, so I had to buy some, and the top edge by the laces started to fray although I cannot detect anything rubbing there. Neither of those is a deal breaker however, and I still love them. ... show more

Not a huge fan of the โ€Made in Chinaโ€ label but I have noticed recently that the Chinese are getting pretty good at what they are selling. This shoe is one of those things made very well, at least from what I can tell so far. If it wears as well as it looks and feels, I am sold. I absolutely love the way the toe area is made. It is shaped perfectly, in my opinion. I waited until I received these before ordering any others but I gotta tell ya, Iโ€™m impressed. So much so, that I ordered 2 more pair. I've had these shoes for a little over a month now and I wear them almost every day! They are my main training shoes when I'm weight lifting, running, and doing calisthenics. They are an 'okay' shoe for plyometics but not the best for explosive Lateral movement which is okay. They are white so I've had to clean them with a toothbrush a couple of times now since I wear them so often. I haven't noticed any fraying on the shoe or any excessive wear on the outer sole. I run only on Saturdays, walk a mile or two each day, and jump rope daily. In terms of fit they are genuinely flat, zero drop, with plenty of room in the toe box. They lace up well and fit snug on your feet without them feeling restricted. I was looking for a minimalist style shoe with a little more cushion on the bottom and these work perfectly.
