  • Great Introduction for Barefoot Style Running Shoe - Unbeatable at this Price - Love 'em
Size: 9 Wide Color: W85 Rich Black
After going deep learning and looking into barefoot style running, I ordered a bunch of barefoot type shoes, including this one. In short, this shoe is hands-down the best option for transitioning into barefoot-style running in my opinion. Size - I usually wear a size 10. For reference, the Altra Original shoe fit fits me perfectly at size 10, with ~1 cm above my big toe. For this shoe, I ordered both a 9 and a 10 to see. The Size 9 in this shoe leaves ~1cm above my big toe. In my opinion, this shoe runs a little long compared to others. Fit - This shoe almost has a slipper-like feel to it when you put it on with socks...I mean that in a good way. It immediately comfortable on the foot. I have a medium-high arch, and a medium-high instep girth/volume (height of the foot, distance from heel to top of the foot in front of the shin). Both are more pronounced in my right foot vs me left foot. The vertical volume of the shoe (often an important aspect of a shoe fit that annoyingly is excluded from almost every shoe specification or description out there), subjectively feels like a medium = perfection on my left foot, a little snug on my right foot. No real need for lacing up on my right shoe. I suspect will give a little with time. Sole / Ground Feel - feels like a perfect balance between enough ground-feel feedback and forgiveness. I could feel creeses in the sidewalk, but it not uncomfortable, with socks on. Heel - Heel had a little movement when moving into the toe-off of a stride. Not as tight of a hold on the outsides of the heel as an Altra, but not the best comparison as Altra is known for that secure-heel. Other Notes - Despite this shoe probably using super cheap materials, it feels pretty durable. The upper is stretchy but durable, a few mm thick I'd guess. I also bought a pair of vivo primo's which were 4x expensive. Those were almost 2 sizes too long by the way. Sweet shoes, more minimalis clearly. This is more of a "shoe". For just getting into barefoot style, I'd opt for this whitin one over the primo, and I did. Compared to Xero - much softer of a sole with this whitin shoe. Softere all around actually. This is more flexible, narrower middfit area than Xero. And I'll stop there cus I could keep going. Great shoe. Unbeatable as the price, truly. ... show more

  • Lasted two years of daily wear
Size: 11 Wide Color: W85 Rich Black
Lasted about two years of daily wear. I've got really wide feet, and the shoes fit well. They're breathable and let you feel the ground. Ordered again. Here's a breakdown of what failed first in the shoe: - Insoles slide around when they're soaked, or after about 8 months of regular wear. Luckily the shoes work fine without insoles. - After insoles failed, the bottom of the shoe eventually gave out, letting rocks and such in. The shoes are really grippy on flat surfaces, like concrete and wood, but horrible on ice or snow (almost died a couple times). ... show more

  • Not very durable but good budget barefoot shoes for walking.
Size: 9 Wide Color: W85 Rich Black
These are a great first pair of barefoot shoes especially for walking. For running they don't work for me but milage may very. If you have the money then I would get something more durable like Vivobarefoot, Feelgrounds, Groundies, Be Lenka, etc. Durability - I wore these delivering pizzas for around 30 hours a week. The tread went flat in a few months. I kept wearing them and they lasted me about 11 months before the soles split and water got in. At some point the sole also started rolling over itself a bit which I felt slightly while walking. On the outside the treading all looks good but on the inside it's falling apart a bit. For $40 I can't really complain, but it is a little wasteful to have to replace your shoes once or twice a year. Comfort - if you like cushy shoes then these are a big adjustment. Once you get used to them, they are super comfy for walking; they really feel sort of barefoot. For running they don't really work for me because when I tighten down the laces, the tongue folds over and becomes a pressure point. They have thin, flexible, somewhat soft soles; I would not want to step on a nail in these but they provide great ground feel. The toe box is nice and wide so they don't squeeze my toes. ... show more

  • Comfortable shoe but soles tend to be sticky and can cause falling in older people.
Size: 14 Wide Color: W85 Rich Black
Very comfortable. Made of softer material that still gives support but feel good on your feet. I wear them everywhere. As far as durability, I haven't had them long enough to test that. Update: Comfortable shoe. I like them but they have one fault. The rubber soles will "catch" or stick on sidewalks, wood or linoleum floors and can cause falling in older people. I'm 84 and have almost fallen several times due to these shoes. Otherwise I like them. They might be more suited to younger people. ... show more
