We have had this ruler for 2 homeschooling years and my son has bent it back and forth loads of time each day. It took 2 years to finally snap. A rigid ruler would have been broken in 2 weeks. Paying a little more for the flexible ruler saves me money in the long run.

The clear Westcott ruler is a useful tool for measuring and drawing. It's made of strong plastic, so it's durable and easy to use. The markings on the ruler are very accurate, making it great for precise measurements. Plus, it's flexible and can be used for many different things. The label could have been put on a clear sleeve similar to the sleeves of the rulers that I bought that were even a dollar or two less. But the fact that a matter is is that the label is indeed stuck to the ruler. Not a big deal. Simply take your wife's hair dryer, set it to medium heat, not high heat, take a snap off razor blade and slowly slice underneath the label until you can get a grip on it with your fingertips and then slowly peel it off. Not a big deal. Yes it's annoying but it's not a big deal.

Dummies try to ruin product applying a permanent label to low end of ruler. They should be using "Avery Removable Labels" instead. ALL is NOT lost. On amazon get; https://www.amazon.com/Awesome-Oxygen-Purpose-Degreaser-Remover/dp/B00IZ3Y6HW/ref=sr_1_2?crid=67JI2PHRTY3Z&keywords=awesome+orange&qid=1663876093&sprefix=awsome+orange%2Caps%2C302&sr=8-2 AWSOME ORANGE... Spray, wait two minutes (no longer) and with fingernail or orange stick (also avail on amazon) peel off the label. Spray again, after 2 minutes remove rest of glue. DO NOT use pure DELIMONENE or orange stripper. It will dissolve plastic, paint, just about everything else. I do add 10ml of pure DELIMONENE to my shirt laundry so the shirts won't smell like me. AND it is a good insecticide and insect repellent as well. I love this ruler. Works great.

My wife got off with my old ruler which had both metric and English scales and I got tired of the one I had left which just had English. Wanted an inexpensive replacement - just one, not a multi-pack - and this one filled the bill. The flexibility is nice but think I would have been just as happy with a stiff clear one. Prior reviewers have complained about the English scale not being easy to read because the lengths of the marks are so similar. Correct. The mark for 1/4 inch which should be longer is not. Prior reviewers have complained about the paper label applied to the back of the ruler and how peeling it off left a sticky residue. Correct again. However, I though I was smarter than the average bear and used my go-to for removing sticky residue - WD-40. Well, it removed the sticky residue no problem. But, it left behind a cloudiness. The rest of the ruler is shiny but this area is dull. Don't think it is to the point it will impede its usefulness as a ruler but just an aggravation as it shouldn't be dull in the area where the label was. (This was the reason for the 3 stars.)

I had to have a ruler right away, and this was the quickest way to get it. It's accurate, it's transparent and works as intended. It is in fact a ruler. The price is mind boggling. Unless you have no other choice, there is absolutely no reason to pay so much for a ruler
