One of the many impressive things about these mats is how perfectly they fit around the edges. The first set I bought was for a Honda Ridgeline, and I was astounded by the gap-less fit, with the raised edges tightly conforming to the various contours around the floor. The second set I bought was for a 4Runner. Upon installation, I was disappointed to see that the raised edges didn’t conform well at all, and left several unsightly, dirt-collecting gaps. They seemed to want to curl and bow the wrong way. Poking around on the interwebs, I found a person who had complained about this to Weathertech HQ, who said to just “turn it inside out,” whatever that means, purportedly solving the problem. Others in the forum agreed. Scratched my head a bit and finally figured out this meant I should temporarily bend and stress the problematic edges in the direction opposite to how they were molded, and re-install. Long story short, this achieves a perfect fit. I think it helps to warm the mat in the sun first.

The high edges, and exact fit make all the difference between these and regular floor mats. Dirt doesn’t get scuffed off the edge and sneak underneath the mat, leaving a dirty ring on your carpet. I got the gray color because dried dirt is less evident on it than on black.

After owning my 2003 4Runner for 9 years, the original mats were shot. I was looking for something that would last another 9 years. We already owned a cargo mat by WeatherTech for our Sienna so I knew what to expect. I wasn't disappointed. These mats fit great and rugged. The next day after installing them, we got some heavy rains and when I entered the car, I had no worries about my soaking wet feet. The mats wiped down clean. The gray is a perfect match to the interior of my 4Runner.... it matches the original carpet color better than my factory floor mats did.

I wanted these to go with my WeatherTech backseat mats and cargo liner. Now I've got my whole 4Runner covered! These mats are great. You can get mud on them, snow, water, spill drinks, food, dog water bowls, dirt, whatever! If you like the do stuff outdoors, or like to get dirty, you want these mats. They fit perfectly and will last a long time. Sure, you can buy cheaper all weather mats, but they are not as good. At the time I bought these, they were cheaper here on Amazon than buying direct from WeatherTech.

I paid the extra price for WeatherTech to ensure a custom fit and get the high side walls that capture the winter slop. This is my second set of front mats and I have not been disappointed. The only caveat is that unless you keep them pristine, the lighter colored mats (grey & tan) will show ground in dirt over time that will not come out with soap and water. I have also purchased the cargo mat for a previous 4runner I owned but I can't use it in this one because it has the rear collapsible shelf and the mat doesn't fit very well.

The quality and worksmanship of of this product is outstanding. The fit of the driver side mat is perfect. The mat stays in place and does not move because of the factory installed hooks on the vehicle which fir this mat perfectly. The passanger side mat is also a perfect fit but does tent to slide around a bit because of the lack of hooks to keep it in place. Either way, the quility of this product is great and they perform their job very well, your factory carpet will be well protected from dust, grime and liquids. Would have given these a five star if it weren't for the passanger side mat and the fact that these are in fact a littel pricy. They are in fact worth the investment if you plan on keeping your vehicle long term.

I purchased my 4Runner new in Jan of 2007. Since it was the rainy season I thought to keep my stock mats clean and purchased these mats. The Weather Tech liner fits to a tee and is still in my truck a year later. I like these liners so much I purchased them for my whole truck, front, middle and back. Just looking at the dirt I track inside I still haven't used the stock mats. UPDATE May 2011: I still have them in my truck four years later. They are still flexible and good as the day I installed them. Toyota recently did a safety recall on my truck. There may be potential floor mat interference with the gas pedal. Not with these Weather Tech mats. These mats are molded and lay flat on the carpet floor. No curling on the edges and no chance of interfering with the gas pedal. So this was also a good safety measure purchase. Even happier with these mats now.
