We moved in a month ago to a house built in 1988. It had a great jacuzzi bathtub but the special plug stopper just wasn't going to work. So we purchased the replacement for the stopper but, it still allowed water to seep out. We now think it was the ring around the drain opening that was perhaps eroded or uneven. So we decided to try this before calling a plumber. Got this, put the silicone down, installed this stopper and "presto chango" WE Got water staying in the tub ! It took about 5 minutes to install (counting cleaning the tub ring, drying it and the installation of this little thing). Waited 3 and 1/2 hours and tested. Put water in, and checked every hour for about 6 hours. Not a drop was missing (had a mark on the tub to see if it was decreasing at all). This is sooooo brilliant to us. We can now use our new (old) bathtub, didn't have to call a plumber and didn't have to pay a plumber. This thing is fantastic!! Can't recommend this highly enough !! This is a good design and solved a problem for us (without ripping out plumbing). The unit is simple and works well, though you need to clean it off basically after each shower or bath. HOWEVER...the cost of this unit is WAY beyond what it needs to be: I recommend that the manufacturer get real and drop the price at least 30% if not 50%. ... show more

I was looking for a tub stopper that looked and worked better than a rubber plug. I came across this unit on Amazon and for the money thought I would give it a try. It was very easy to install with the adhesive that comes with the unit. The chrome looks great with the the chrome faucet. It seals tight with a simple push of the stopper and the strainer catches hair to help prevent clogs in the future. The constuction appears to be good, only time will tell how well it will do over the long haul, but so far so good. ... show more

My landlord is scum. I have lived here for four years without a working stopper for my bathtub. I bought a basic plastic one, but it didn't fit. I tried other stoppers, but because the tub and building are so old, none of them fit. I saw a commercial on TV for a universal plug and thought that was exactly what I needed. I bought one from my local big-box home mega-fix-it-all stores. It was very easy to install. It worked great. I was so excited to be able to finally take a bath again! Then it stopped working after about a month. I thought it might have been because of hair getting caught around the drain that the plug couldn't get a good seal. That's great that the drain is stopping the hair. I've tried everyday to see if there might be something blocking the seal. I pull out whatever is caught in the drain, but it still won't seal shut. You can't get the knob off from the top of it to see what might be caught in there. You just have to fish around and try to get stuff out. Maybe it's the pushing around to pull out caught hair that ruins the plug? I have no idea because I can't get the knob off the top to even see what might be wrong with it. Once you've installed it with the included paste, good luck getting it off your drain. I'm at the point no where I want the thing off so I can go back to plugging the drain with plastic wrap and I can't get it off. Thankfully, my lease is up soon and I can move away from the drain from hell. Beware using this if you own your own home and use this. You too will have a drain from hell, but you won't be able to get away from it. ... show more

ive looked all over for something like this. the reasons why i bought this drain cover might sound kinda weird but. in my crazy mind i think that large bugs crawl out the drain when not in use. this drain prevents such horrific things from crawling out out of my bathtub drain. this gives me peace of mind and prevents me from yelling at my roommate for leaving the rubber plug out the drain. no more yelling at the roomie. Oh did i mention it was easy to intstall and does actually hold water when plug is in the down position. ... show more
