7/7/18 Later In The Day- If you’re looking for that squeaky clean crisp Bose like sound, this is not for you. I haven’t tried EVERY single combination, but after many adjustments just curious to explore, I noticed it lacks that. But, the sound is great in a deeper way if that makes sense. *****£**£**£ So, where to begin? I’ve been on a sound bar hunt for over a year. This is my third or fourth. I bought a cheap Atyme tv that has great picture but only lacks a few “fancy” details. The sound is unforgivable. Really bad. Just in case you’re wondering what kind of sound quality I like, I love my Wonderboom’s, UE Boom 2, my Beats and my 12” sub in my car with an Alpine stereo. I found this bar and stalked it checking if the reviews changed or the price declines. Neither happened so I purchased it as an early birthday gift. Adult birthdays aren’t ALL bad! There’s a man who writes his review for this product with one of the opening lines being along the lines of ‘Because I’m a man and I know everything’. That guy helped me A LOT with unpacking and set up. He’s right. The directions are garbage. I’m using this in a 550 sq ft apt. But! I like to keep my place polar cold. And my AC is super chilling but a bit loud. So I needed something that could be considerate AND a little extra loud when I need it to be. I put my sub in a corner right by where I watch my tv and took the reviewers advice and placed the bar at ear level. It’s kind of amazing what a difference that makes. I did my standard diva test out. I picked Beyoncé Drunk in Love. AMAZING! I got a little sound happy and turned it up not very loud but loud-er. That sub was bumping my whole living room. The vocals sounded great, too. I would like to add I have the bass on a pretty low setting. So as the helpful reviewer said, Idk how people could need more bass. I am sometimes jolted because I forget the sub exists and a loud noise will happen and it’s legit like I’m in a movie theater. I’ve walked all over my apt with it on. You can kind of feel the bass. I can’t explain it. Like sound waves. But it’s not in an intruding or irritating way. And the sound is perfect. To hear my old sound bar I had to turn the volume ALL the way up so you could hear a footstep from the tv like two rooms away. It was so damn loud. My old remote was the size of a stick of gum and I hated it. So, I’m not TOO bummed on this one. The buttons are awkward and it’s difficult to discern where your fingers are in the dark. My old units remote ALSO had to be held straight at the sensor to register a command. It also had an unstoppable 2 hour time out mode. So, you can imagine the arm raising fun I had all day long. Turning it on and then mute during the commercials. This remote, I keep next to my head on the couch when I’m lying down. It’s faced in the opposite direction of the unit and it STILL works!!!!! So I look over, touch the button I want and get back on with my life. I like it on “movie” and “tru sound”. What these do, I’ll never know. But it makes the sound more pleasing. I also adjusted the treble and bass myself. I do fuss with that a bit depending on what I’m watching. I also keep the instructions nearby in case I want to mess around with the settings. My only complaint is I don’t live farther from my neighbors because you just want to live in the sound of what you’re watching. I want to turn it up crazy loud and feel even more like it’s my own theater. Great for the price. Crossed fingers I never have to buy another bar again. The packaging for this is so intricate, I took pictures in the event I need to send it back. The thought of repacking it makes me ill. So keep in mind when trying this. Really read the reviews. Make sure you are prepared to repack if necessary because it won’t be easy.

I would consider myself a bit of an audiophile. I am fairly picky about sound quality and have some higher end gear. I don't say this to brag, but to just inform my perceptive on this product. So, if I am a bit of an audio snob why did i even purchase a $130 sound bar? Well, it was not for me, it was for my parents. My mother was having trouble hearing dialogue in TV programs and I thought this might help and also improve the audio experience overall from their Vizio TV's built-in speakers . Spoiler alert - it did and I was quite impressed! For more explanation on why and a further review of SB2821-D6 read on. To begin, the build quality of this sound bar is functional. It certainly is not elegant, but it gets the job done. t's not going to win any design awards, but looks nice sitting atop my parents' TV. Both the sound bar and sub are plastic boxes. The sound bar has a nice, cloth material covering the front and top. I'm not a huge fan of the silver plastic that covers the ends of the sound bar and the top of the sub. I think it looks cheap, to each their own I guess. I would characterize the sound of the SB2821-D6 as better than most TV speakers, but not amazing. It certainly improves dialog quality and even adds a little dimension to the sound stage. I was supervised by the sound, but certainly not blown away. It's basically what you would expect from a 2" deep bar. Vizio did put decent drivers in the package and matched it nicely with the appropriate DSP to make sure it does the best that it can. That is actually a god summery for this sound bar, it does the best that it can. The same could be said for the sub - if that's what you want to call it. It does the best it can for a 6" cube with a 4" driver. I hesitate to call it a sub, but I'm not sure what the correct term would be. It will add lower frequencies to your sound, but that's pretty much all I can say for it. I don't think it hits much lower than 65Hz at 85db. That brings me to my next point regarding audio - the sound bar really begins to struggle at higher volumes. Sitting about 8' away from the SB2821-D6 it began to break up at around 82db. If you are going to sit further away and need more volume consider something else. The amplifier in this unit just can't get very loud without breaking up. I've read that the sound bar only has a 5W amplifier. If that is the case it does a good job with what it has, but its short comings are quickly seen when pushed. Having said all this, my parents are enjoying the SB2821-D6 and it meets their needs. It has improved the clarity of dialog and increased volume in comparison to their TV's speakers. It's a great solution for them! So, would I buy and/or use the SB2821-D6. Maybe for a bedroom or guest room, but not much beyond that. This is still saying something considering how picky I am about sound. In the right application it gets my seal of approval. Should you buy the SB2821-D6? That depends, what are you looking for? Are you in need of something that will improve audio quality over TV speakers? This sound bar will do that trick then. If you are looking for room-filling, immersive sound that will rattles your skull than look elsewhere. You will be sorely disappointed in the .
