I scoured the internet for hours, literally, trying to find a reasonably priced set of large island bandages similar to the expensive ones my doctor gave me for the wound on my leg. I'm happy to say these were the most reasonably priced and the largest for my needs (I'm reviewing the 6x6 size). The ones my doctor gave me had a transparent film over the cushioned part - these have what feels almost like a cloth border that has just the right amount of adhesion when putting it on so as not to be irritating or sealing too tightly, and they come off without pain or irritating the skin. I also appreciated this brand because they CLEARLY show the actual size of the bandage (4x4 inches) and not just the overall size including the borders. I found it maddening when doing the searches that only the overall size including the border was usually listed, so a bandage listed as 4x4 was actually only as little as 2x2 inches. The gash on my leg had cuts in 3 different and it was tricky trying to find a size that would cover them all without the sticky part ending up on one of the wounds itself. These feel comfortable and breathable while giving the covered (cushioned) part of the bandage enough protection as to keep the wound securely covered and sealed. A winner in my case.

These dressings are fairly large, as advertised. There is adhesive all around the dressing, as well as gauze in the middle to place over whatever wound you might have. These are primarily for a large flat area, like back or chest, rather than something that moves alot. For that purpose, these are fine dressings, in that their adhesive isn't painfully strong, but good enough to cover something.

I was very surprised at how soft these are. It's not like a bandaid or any gauze pad I've ever used before. You don't even know it's there. And it stays on so well! Did I mention it's soft? It's like wearing pajamas. It's got a soft cottony texture. Pay attention to the size. The ones I got are very big - 4" by 4" and the actual pad is half that. I truly love these and recommend them highly! SO well made and high quality.

I needed to cover my 2nd-degree burns from a candle making explosion, and these bandages did a good job for my chest since it's a flat area. (My thin shirt did almost nothing to prevent damage.) Each one stayed in place all day, although I did need to use a new one since they rub off in my sleep. Overall, they're doing a good job at keeping my burns infection free.

Vive Care Island Dressing - (15 Pack) 6x6 Sterile Gauze Pads for Wounds. These island style dressings are so convenient because you do not need any additional tape to hold them in place. The bandage part of the dressing that touches the wound is a non-stick/adherent. The adhesive edges hold it in place well. The whole dressing is breathable so it is not waterproof and should be covered if bathing or changed immediately afterwards. These are a must for our emergency first aid kits.

These are a great size to keep on hand for various injuries, especially cat-related ones (lots of inadvertent scratches). However, the edges tend to wrinkle up fairly easily, especially at the corners, so then they don't stick as well. I think if the adhesive were a tad bit stronger along the edges, I would give these 5 stars, no problem. As it stands now, it's just 4 due to them not sticking for longer periods of time without something over it to hold it down, like a firm sleeve or pants leg. 4 stars

Of course it says 6x6 in the description but I did not check how large that would be until I opened the box. These Sterile Gauze Pads seem like they are of excellent qualty and function as you would expect. I hope no one in our family has a wound severe enough to need these. Yikes. Of course, they can be cut down to accommodate various sizes and applications.

Ironically enough, I am recovering from an ~1inch 3rd degree burn. With two dressing changes per day, I was very interested to try these out as it’s both a gauze and the adhesive. This product is so much better than using tape and a gauze. The adhesive stays in place and has not caused any skin irritation. The gauze is about 2inches with the remaining area being the adhesive around the outer area of the gauze.
