So, I am not your typical "plus" sized woman -- I often wear XL and like more room in my tops (often oversized) because my mid-section is fluffy thanks to several pregnancies, and I am self-conscious about it. However, I don't have all of the beautiful, full curves that go along with a true plus size and I think that shows a bit in this top. For reference, I am 5'5", 39" bust (but wide), fluffy muffin-top mid-section. Typically, I am an 8/10(L) but usually size up to 12/14 (XL) in tops for the reason above -- so I thought I would give this XL a try. I would definitely say you don't need to size up and stick with your true to size. Overall, I happen to really like the top and am planning to wear it (with a shirt clip to cinch it in just a bit) to a panel discussion tonight where it is casual, but not "jeans/t-shirt casual" but where I don't technically need to be dressed up -- I just want to look put together. I think the sizing is a bit big on me (especially without a tuck or a clip) and it is a bit big in the shoulders/neckline but I think I can make it work with an underlayer tank for a pop of color. As I said, I just don't have the curvaceous figure needed to really go with this top -- but if you have those lovely curves I think this top is fantastic. I am just going to use a shirt clip to cinch it just a bit and I think it works great and I love the room I have so it isn't fitted or clingy. It actually gives me a lot of options to work with -- clip, tuck, knot. The material is a very lightweight, ribbed, sweater knit that isn't too hot (especially when you add in the 3/4 sleeves rather than full sleeves. I also love the V-neck and how I can make it more or less conservative depending on how I feel. So, if you have the beautiful curves to fill this top out, then I wouldn't hesitate to order; and if you are like me and want that looser fit but don't quite fill the top out in all the right places, it offers a great opportunity to adjust the fit to your style and I definitely wouldn't count this top out.
