  • A true full suspension full size scooter
I've been looking for years for a scooter with a true suspension. This one just came out. I've only driven up an down my fairly rough older driveway so far but wanted to get a first impression out since it is so new. Seems very smooth and much better than the Victory Sport I have, that has stiff springs meant for harsh off-road vice more normal travel. Will be bringing to Florida for frequent use at WDW and will update once I check it out on the increasingly rough walkways (due to enhanced themed walkways for the new areas) at WDW. Update after a week at WDW: I found the CTS suspension to be remarkably smooth and comfortable over even the roughest themed walkway surfaces. I highly recommend for the smoothest ride. ... show more

  • Overall a great scooter for the money...with some notes...
The scooter is basically a great product - does everything the company says it will do. Construction/quality are first rate (mostly - see note later in this review)...it's built like a tank - very rugged. Suspension and foam filled tires give it pretty smooth ride even over fairly rough terrain. I thought the non-pneumatic tires would give it rough ride, but the foam filling in them seems to really make a difference - they are not like solid rubber tires at all (e.g.: nothing like wheels on a kid's wagon). Speed and range appear to be as advertised: the longest trip I've made with it so far is 9 miles (4-1/2 miles from my home to destination and back) and the battery meter was still showing full charge, so I believe the 15.5 miles range is likely accurate. Here are my notes on the scooter, why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 (I wish you could give 1/2 stars - then I'd give it 4-1/2 stars): ** see edits below ** 1) The delivery process wasn't exactly what I expected. I was under the impression that it was to come pretty much fully assembled on a skid...that all I had to do was some very minor assembly, then drive it off the skid. It came in a very large box, not on a skid and I had to assemble a fair amount - plus I had to connect the batteries. Luckily, I'm very handy with my hands and it was not a huge deal, but did take about 30 minutes or so to unpack, assemble, connect and clear all the packing material away. If you are not real handy, you should definitely look into some kind of "white glove" delivery service at an extra charge (typically around $60 or so) where they deliver it into your home, unpack it and assemble it. 2) The owners manual is garbage! It appears that they spent a lot of money creating one master owners manual that they send out with every model they sell. Each section of the manual covers all the different models and you have to figure out for yourself which part refers to YOUR model (and they don't really give you any help in figuring that out). They really should have created custom manuals for EACH of their different models like most of the world's manufacturer's do. IMHO, this manual is VERY user UN-friendly. 3) Construction is great generally, but I do have something of a nitpick with the cover that is under the seat/over the batteries. It is not clear exactly how to remove and reinstall this cover (and of course the manual is no help at all). I have removed it/reinstalled it about 3 times and still do not understand exactly how to do it. You just have to fidget with it until it finally snaps back into place. I will say it seems secure once it is finally locked into place - I've had NO problems with it coming loose on it's own, once in place. 4) The battery charger gets VERY HOT. I wouldn't be surprised if this is normal for all scooters out there, but be aware that it does get VERY HOT (too hot to touch for sure, and you'll want to be careful of what surfaces you set it on)! 5) I use my scooter for relatively long jaunts (1-4 miles) so I wish it went faster...you'd be surprised how tedious 5.5 mph seems to be when you're traveling a relatively long distance. This scooter does appear to go the advertised speed, and this speed IS typical for the price range...just thought I'd bring it up. I love this scooter overall, but I kinda wish now that I had spent more money to get one that has top speed in 7.5 - 9.5 mph range. 6) The armrests are in reality pretty useless (accept when sitting on the scooter with it parked). They are too far back (and too far apart, even at the narrowest setting) for my forearms to rest on them when driving. They are also not height adjustable, which might make them more useful. ** edit ** I finally was able to discover that the armrests have allen screw adjustments for height (by talking to Spinlife rep)...but the manual does not tell or show you anywhere about these adjustments! By adjusting the armrests higher, they are SOMEWHAT more useful now, but they are still too far back...even with the steering assy adjusted close to my body, the arm rests are still too far back for my arms to rest on them most of the time. 7) The lever that you grip for power is "go/no-go"...you go when you pull it, you stop when you let go of it...it does not function like a "throttle" (ie.: you can't control the speed with it). In tricky areas where you need to vary your speed, you must use your left hand to turn a speed knob which takes a little getting use to, though it is not overly difficult once you've done it for a while. From what I can tell, this is pretty standard for almost all scooters. 8) I'm not sure how really useful the battery metering LED's are. So far the longest trip I've made is 9 miles and all of the LED's were still lit. Since the (advertised) range is 15.5 miles, I would have expected about 1/3 of the LED's to have gone out by then. My suspicion is that the LED's don't start dropping out until you get pretty close to the end of the charge cycle life, which could leave you stranded if you are making a long round trip. 9) In the Amazon listing here, it says "Challenger Mobility Accessory Bundle Included: Vinyl Cover, Cup Holder, Armrest Bag & Rear Basket", but mine only came with front basket and cup holder. I've heard from others who had the same experience. The seller should either send what they say they will send, or the listing should be corrected to reflect that you only get a front basket and cup holder. ** edit ** It appears that this is a problem with Amazon's page...it should not show this bundle as included (but as of the time of this edit, it still does). ** edit ** I contacted Spinlife Wheelchairs, the vendor who sold/shipped my item and they stepped up and sent me the missing items (rear basket, flag and scooter cover) from the "Challenger Mobility Accessory Bundle", even though they admitted it was a mistake on Amazon's part that the Mobility Accessory Bundle was listed with their listing. ... show more

  • Best scooter and vendor for the money.
The scooter is heavy duty and so far has performed beyond expectations. I would recommend this scooter for anyone with mobility problems. The seller was prompt in shipment and follow up with any questions and problems. Would definately buy from this vendor again.

  • The scooter provides me with good mobility over changing surfaces.
I have rented this brand when traveling, and am very satisfied with it. Due to my physical condition, I have difficulty walking and this scooter provides me the ability to do more.
