This thing was the perfect gift for my White Elephant gift exchange. The tiny case was hilarious and the tiny violin looks like it fell straight out of the tiny Titanic. The 6 inches miniature violin with bow, violin stand and case was a beautiful replica for keepsakes and memory collection. The string of the bow was one string of clear plastic but it is not for actual playing of the miniature instrument. It has the chin rest and the craftsmanship was exact. Thanks.

My Cabbage Patch children have been asking to take music lessons, and as someone in the performing arts myself, I want to encourage their pursuits, so I started looking at Cabbage-sized instruments online. Violins seem to be one of the easiest tiny instruments to find, and when I saw the photos here submitted by buyers of American Girl dolls playing this violin, that sold me -- if it's good enough for 18-inch-tall Ashley, it's good enough for 16-inch-tall Crumbcake Duluth, Helvetica Bold, and Harvey Winsome. I ordered the largest size violin, but it's actually smaller in appearance than I thought it would be, even though when choosing a size, I pulled out a measuring tape to get a visual image. It also arrived broken. :'( The board under the strings (what would be a fretboard on a guitar) isn't fully glued down, and slides from side to side, and if one moved it too much, it'd for sure break off. I am not that one to move it excessively, and in fact just now I got out some nail glue and glued it back down, which I think solves the problem. Phew! This is a very, very delicate little string instrument, and clearly my Kids are going to have to learn how to handle it with maximum gentleness. That said, it's really cute, and the details are amazing. The bow, stand and case are all adorable as well. Time to sign everyone up for Suzuki! ... show more
