I have worn various vans and never fully loved them (all platform and always felt bulky/heavy). I got these for lifting. I needed something flat and got these and a pair of converse. I really like how wide the toe area is on these versus the converse so I can use more of my foot to lift (I prefer barefoot lifting but some gyms don’t allow it). The suede gives these an ever cuter spin. They’re also super grippy which is awesome for the gym. I also ride my motorcycle in vans because of how grippy they are.
