I bought these for a trip to South America where I knew I'd be doing a ton of walking, and I wanted something comfortable. At first glance they looked almost like hiking boots since they're noticeably bulkier than regular Vans, and honestly, I thought I'd made a mistake when they arrived — they weren't what I expected at all. That worry didn't last long. Once I started wearing them, I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable they actually are. Despite the chunkier look, there's not a lot of cushioning underfoot — it almost feels like walking barefoot. That might sound like a downside, but it wasn't; my feet held up great through miles of sightseeing and city walking. This was my first pair of Vans, and they've made me a fan. Very comfortable! I size up 1/2 size when I buy high tops from vans. They fit as I expected. I work EMS and wear these in place of traditional boots. I’ve not tried them in winter/snow yet but so far they’ve been great. Great traction loving the nonslip.

I haven't owned a pair of Vans in years, but man are these incredible! I'm 6'2" and wear a 13. They fit absolutely perfect and are not only comfortable but look even better than pictured. The color so nice and the materials all bring the shoe together well. I rushed to get these in order to attend my motorcycle endorsement class (need shoes that cover the ankles) but now I kinda want to purchase the black pair for riding and keep these as a more casual shoe. If you're thinking about getting them, go for it. They're well worth the money! I did grab some nicer laces (Stepace Round Shoelaces in Dots Black and White) just because I know the white ones will be gross in a matter of weeks. ... show more

Great looking shoes, and the fit is true to size. I think the laces (flat, almost like strips of cloth) were designed for looks as opposed to functionality though, I’ve only worn the shoes a few times and I’m gonna buy new ones. Due to the fact that the shoes use hooks or clips at the top vs “eyes”, the flat style laces are difficult to get properly secured. I’m gonna buy the “rope” style as replacements. The soles have no cushion in them either, so I’m wearing these occasionally just for looks and not for comfort. Walking on a solid surface feels like having a sheet of plywood strapped to my feet. And the configuration of the sole itself seems to trap a LOT of debris. I took my dog to the park before a visit to the vet this past week and left a trail of mud in the office/exam room. Still 4 stars though, because I bought them for the looks of a casual shoe that’s not a pair of work boots. ... show more

Show is extremely comfy and fits just like other sk8-hi but is super slippery. The reverse waffle sole is a nightmare on wet and slick surfaces. While using for cqb and rescue work boarding ships, have had my fair share of slips in them.
