I love the Van Holten Hot Mama Pickles, so much so I have bought cases of them like 45 times. That being said, when buying on Amazon make sure the pickles are being shipped from Van Holtens and not some other distributor. Every time I have ordered from a different distributor, there is issues. Some bags are leaking. Sometimes I don't think they are stored properly or may be old. I have had some that were so soft, mushy, and gross I have had to throw most of them away. So, just make sure if you want good quality ones. See who is distributing them on Amazon before ordering.

Van Holtens are my favorite brand of pickles and the Dill was my favorite flavor! I started eating them as a child growing up in the east. When I relocated to the south, they were hard to find. Sam’s was selling them but they have been discontinued. On a recent road trip, I purchased a Garlic Joe from a gas station and fell in love with it. It was crunchy and very flavorful. When Sam’s sold the Dill flavor, the box of 12 was approximately $12 but the price on Amazon was over twice the amount. I wanted these Garlic Joe pickles so bad that I paid the price of $27.99 plus tax for 12 pickles. When I received them the box had 3 Garlic Joe, 3 Dill, 3 Hot Dill and 3 Sour. Imagine my surprise! It wasn’t what I ordered but Amazon provided a refund, which gives me some peace.
