Length is correct but the ends are squished, possibly cut with pressure not a moving blade, leaving not quite the full rod as usable. The rest of the rod is round enough for non-precise work and fits in 5mm bore bearings and gears well. I cut off the misshapen ends and sanded/chamfered the edge and it works great. The steel is soft enough to cut with a hacksaw but a rotary cutting tool worked best for me. ... show more

I bought these rods to make axels for my 3D printed vehicles. They all seem to be perfectly straight and just need to be shortened to fit and cut easily with my Dremel. If you need rods for this type of project i recommend them.

I bought these for a precision motion-control project I'm working on, and am using them as a shaft to hold a pair of gears. We'll just have to wait and see if they are sufficient for that purpose. Mine all measured at 5.95-5.96mm. That .01mm difference being consistent across all of them, showing the rods are slightly non-circular. The rod ends are actually atrocious. They are deformed to the point that you could never slide anything close to 6mm over them. I think they were snapped off somehow, with no further finishing work done. Enough people have taken photos of them that I don't think I need to. If you have the tools to cut them cleanly, then this isn't an issue (bearing in mind you'd lose whatever length you cut off.) Thankfully I have access to a wire EDM, so I can cut them with no issues. For the low price though, I can't say I'm surprised. For hobby-level projects, they'll work just fine(assuming you can cut/clean them before use.) For precision work though, I guess we'll wait and see. ... show more
