I wish it would had come with instructions, I didn’t have a clue how it worked and I am operating it based on other users videos, here on Amazon and in YouTube, but manufacturer should spend a couple of dollars to make sure, us buyers can use it properly and without any confusion.. there is a small q&a in the description of the item that is helpful but I would say… can’t they have a QR code for the buyer to scan and get an e-manual at least?? I mean, for the price, you would expect them being concerned about misuse and returns, but I guess spending additional $2 for an e-manual is too much? That’s the only reason why I’m giving a 4 star review, if there would be a manual, I should had given 5. GIVE US A MANUAL!! It helps!! ... show more

I have been searching for an affordable kitchen composter for some time now. When this arrived, sure it’s a little big for the counter but still fits right in. Follow the directions. DO NOT OVERPACK. Do NOT add to a previous cycle. Once you’ve run a cycle, which is hours long, and when you see finished product you’ll understand why, put it to use! We’ve already used it in our garden beds and our indoor plants. It’s quiet, no smell (a little odor when the cycle is running but nothing compared to OG composting). So far, money well spent. This composter is really bad. It doesn’t compost like it said it would. Instead of getting high quality compost, I needed up with a wet, gluey substance. Also, during the process, the machine made a huge mess.

As far as function it works great, 5 stars on that front for sure! I’ve used it several times in the last few weeks and it’s fantastic for disposing of various kitchen scraps. It’s really quiet and only takes a few hours! I have a compost tumbler outside, and can see myself using this over the winter months rather than emptying my small kitchen compost bin I keep near the trash can outside when it’s cold. I love that you can compost more than the typical veggie waste, coffee grounds and egg shells with it, like small meat scraps and greasy items like sausage stuffed acorn squash rinds. Things that are technically compostable outside but aren’t because it attracts vermin. Now there’s less potential for the trash to get stinky as well. I absolutely love that I can dispose of that stuff and reuse it in the garden now. However, I wouldn’t exactly call the end byproduct “compost” by any stretch. The contents have been baked at such a high temp before being ground up, it’s sterile. There’s zero beneficial microbes left in it that makes it “compost” and helpful to plants, with the exception of calcium in the egg shells. What it’s making is essentially “browns” which is necessary for healthy living compost in combination with “greens”. Do a little research on compost requirements for “greens and browns” and you’ll understand what I’m talking about. This as-is out of the bin (as well as just about every competitor) has no health benefits to your plants. It’s basically sterile soil with some eggshells, otherwise zero nutrients. All benefits from the coffee grounds or tea leaves you’d get from putting directly in your plants? All gone. I’ve read a competitor (starts with an L) sells a microbial blend to add in to it but that’s unnecessary for me since I have a tumbler outside to mix it in with. If want to use it for gardening or house plants, it’s 100% a great way to dispose of organic kitchen waste but it won’t help your plants without adding microbes. It’s great for adding to regular compost or to add to your top soil volume. ... show more
