I'm 68 yrs old and served in vietnam and was wounded from the waist down by a RPG., ( rocket propelled grenade) during a firefight. ( I served with the 9th special forces ) and lived thru hell most times.,, anyway to bring you abreast to my appreciation of what this company did for me... I had all my ribbons and medals and miitary documentations in a business brief case on the top shelf of my bedroom closet., it stated that it was fire-resistant., foolish me, I didn't know that there was a diff between that and 'fire proof'., anyway, we had a fire and lost everything that was in the case... after trying to re-coup my info and medals for the last 2 yrs., I have given up on the military to re-establish everything. I was still missing the bronze star, purple heart, and viet-nam ribbons,,, they did sent me some, but not the ones that were dire to me. This company sent me the purple heart complete package ( and Its REAL).. within 9 days after the order was placed... ! wow ., lets see,--- the military---2 yrs and still nothing, this company-- 9 days... After losing her father's purple heart in a fire, my mother was inconsolable. Although one can never replace the original, I bought this one as a representative piece. Much to my surprise, it was exactly like the original. The weight was the same (VERY heavy), and with the ribbons, was exactly as originally distributed by the government. The box seemed a little cheaper than the original (but what doesn't these days?). Overall, a good alternative for those missing treasured military honor (a replacement directly from the government required paperwork also lost in the fire.) ... show more

I ordered this metal as a replacement for a damaged one that my great-uncle receive during World War II, I still have the original and comparing the two you can definitely tell this one is not a Purple Heart. The ribbon is a little lighter in color and the purple behind Washington is almost black it's so dark and the three stars on the original medal are a blue or a green color and on this one there red. Overall the size and the weight is almost the same and the presentation case is a cheap plastic where are the original metal how many longer leather case. The seller ended up sending me another Purple Heart Medal because the first one was lost in the mail and I received it within just a few short days but I will display the original Purple Heart in a frame alongside his other metals that I'm going to put in a shadow box with the replica. ... show more
