  • Good value, but don't trust specs, they're false.
Color: Black
I jusy set this up so my review doesnt really cover operation. But I will give an honest review on what I have observed so far. As others have pointed out, this was packed very well! I appreciate that. No scratches to the powder coated paint. Not only was it packed in the box well, but the individual parts were wrapped to protect against scratching. I wish all things came packed this well. The assembly was straight forward. Intructions were fairly clear. Better than what you get for many items now days. A couple things could have been a bit more clear, but overall I would give it an A for instructions. Construction feels solid and heavy duty. Welds look good and sufficient. So, overall I think this is very nice. Now some things that need to be mentioned. The speed listed on Amazon is an outright fabrication. Misrepresented! A lie! On Amazon the speed says 1.5 inches a second. I am not saying this because I timed it and it wasn't that fast. Im saying this because the documentation that comes with the stand says its only 1.2" per second, and thats with no load. This leads to the second point which is that the unloaded speed is neither 1.2 or 1.5 inches, but 1.26" per second according to motor housing specs. So, they need to review their specs and make them all match and certainly update the online specs as they are false! I would call that false advertising! Maybe I missed it when reading about it before buyimg, but dont expect this to be very stable on carpet, unless its industrial carpet glued on a concrete slab maybe. But on home carpeting with a pad underneath it is very unstable, especially when raised. I moved it to a room with hardwood floors and it was much better! However, the plastic feet have no protection for hardwoord floors. I put a piece of felt on each foot to keep from scratching floor. So, they could make an improvment there. Also, the size of the feet are fine for hardwood floors, but perhaps it would be better if they were bigger for carpet, or the stance was wider. Another thing, the directions say to center the top on the stand, but it was too unstable doing that once I had my 3 monitor stand attached and the 3 monitors on it. I quickly calculated the center of mass for my desktop and basically it was impossible with the size of my desktop to center the weight (center of mass was approx 8 inches forward from back), but moving the desk as far forward as possible helped a lot. So, consider how you will be using the desk and make adjustments as necessary. Centering it is probably fine if you're just going to have one monitor with its own stand, but if you're using a multi monitor stand with multiple monitors, shift desk forward over legs. It would actually be great if they had a little calculator on their website so you could enter weight of desktop, weight of monitor(s) and stand, and enter placement so it could suggest better posituining of desktop on stand. Well, thats all for now. Overall I'm happy with it so far. Update: I finished setting everything up, connecting monitors and computers and have used it a bit in a sitting and standing position. I really like it! It wors well, and seems very sturdy, and it is stable too! In a standing position, and I'm 6'1", it doesn't wobble or anything. That may have a lot to do with my specific setup though since others do complain about it. So, let me give the specifics. I built my own desktop out of 5/4 quarter sawn oak and the desktop is 26" x 66". It weighs 70 lbs. I added a monitor stand and 3 monitors that weigh 41 lbs and that weight is centered approximately 8" from back. Arms are adjustable so that weight can chift forward or back depending. Accounting for monitors, laptops, weight of desktoo, monitor stand, etc, the center of mass was about 8.5" from back. To perfectly center it over the legs the support arms on top of stand would need to be adjustable or proportioned differently so the end result is that I could get the center of mass over the center ot stand, but I did move it forward a lot. So, in the back I left a 1" overhang on bracket, and in front there is a 6". Center of mass is about 2" back of the middle of the leg. Anyway, thats a lot, but the result for me is a very stable and steady desk even at my standing height setting of 41.2". It is more wobbly at 50", but not horrible. Final thing, the speed. Fully loaded the speed is 1.07 inches per second going up, and 1.08 inches per second lowering it. Its plenty fast. For my settings it taks 13 seconds to go from sitting to standing position. 1 ... show more

  • Don't believe the specs, but its a good frame
Color: Black
So I can compare this to both a Uplift Desk (commercial frame) and a Fully Jarvis - as I have 2 and 1 of each in my house, but first lets talk about the specs and why I purchased this Width: The *only* reason I purchased this vs saving around $40-80 on another 3 stage frame is the advertised width of 42.25 to 74". I have a need for a 72" wide frame - this frame needs to be I believe around 70" to be correctly assembled. At 74" I could not secure the central supports to both legs, and at 72" I could only secure them with half of the bolts the manufacturer designed the frame to use. Speed With just the legs, no top - The legs moved at approximately 1"/second not the advertised 1.5". The manufacturer's sticker states 32mm/s or 1.25"/second. It's very typical of Chinese standing frame manufacturers to overstate all specs on the desk - so this is an overstatement from the manufacturer and the middleman compounding. Expect to see around 1" a second Weight: The legs are rated for a maximum of 1000N loads - or 225 lbs of force from the manufacturer. The gears are all plastic - the limitation here is the plastic gears. I did not add 1000N of force to the desk because it would have damaged it. With my 80lb top and 90lbs of weights the desk audibly struggled. That's 170lbs out of the 264 advertised or 225 spec'd. I think it would survive the 264lb if the weight was evenly distributed, but would greatly shorten the lifespan of the plastic gears. For medium size desks this a powerful frame, for large desks with a thick hardwood top this frame is only 'ok' Stability: At 72" wide with the frame stability is very poor at full height, and overall poor adjusted to my standing height (I am 6'3). At my girlfriends standing height she said it was too wobbly (She is 5'9") to be used for a desk. We both agreed at sitting height it was perfectly fine, and she thought at standing height if it was like a craft table its perfectly fine but not for a computer desk. With the 30" deep top and the frame centered - the front to back stability was ok at all heights for me with minimal weight, but monitor arms or weights along one edge would render it unstable at my standing heights. I shifted my 90lbs around and confirmed it was very unstable at max and my comfortable standing height - so if you are tall and using this as a desk you need to center the legs as close to where the weight goes as possible, not center it on the top. Electronics: These are the standard low end electronics from WINNER, with a WN17CM2 controller at the heart. They worked as expected. My biggest concern is the clearly not UL, and extremely thin power cable that was shipped. We are talking 1950 lamp cord thin, USB cable thin. This being a hangzhou winner intelligent technology controller you are 100% dependent upon UNICOO remaining in business, no other manufacturer will receive the correct firmware for the controller and you won't be able to substitute a controller. If this burns out and UNICOO isn't around or doesn't replace it you no longer have a standing desk. How this compares to more expensive frames: Just comparing this to an uplift and a Jarvis, its less stable, slower, louder, the finish is poorer (thin coatings, overspray into threads, no attention to detail covering recessed screws) and the quality of parts is poorer (using bolts instead of set screws for a set screw, thinner metal - especially on the legs/feet) and a smaller frame (much smaller supports to brace against the desk - almost 30-40% smaller than the uplift in terms of depth of top being supported, along with fewer locations to support and secure to the top) Is it a good frame? IF you plan on 150lbs of weight and frame width of under 70" and desk surface less than 30" deep, and you are under 6 feet I would say yes this is perfectly acceptable as it is where the frame will shine. If you are not using this as a desk and typing away - I think you can stretch the top to 80"x30" and use it at a standing height for somebody 6ft tall. If you are taller than 6 ft, have plans to load this to 200lbs+, and/or primarily stand I think there are equivalent choices for less money and better choices for more money. ... show more

  • It's a good frame
Color: Black
Got this one because it was the only raising desk frame I could find that was actually 23.5" in height! I needed the clearance with my slide-out as I am using the desk frame as a bar table/extended countertop in my travel trailer and I have an elevated slide-out so needed something where the top could be lowered below 25" the frame itself is good and sturdy, I have it bolted to the floor (because it's a permanent part of the trailer) and it barely moves, you really gotta pull on it to get it to move. the programmable controls go back to the exact height I have it set at. So if you are just looking for a good desk frame I'd recommend it. my favorite part is they know how to read a measuring tape. :) ... show more
