Not sure about the water resistance, as there has not been any accidents, but the top is very soft. I have noticed in the past that the cover makes sleeping hot, but I have not noticed that with this one.

We still like this product, though it's a bit larger than we thought it would be for our California King mattress. Perhaps it was made so that you could fit the box springs in it, too. I don't know. We just ticked the excess under the mattress and it works fine.

I have had this mattress protector for about a year. It's quiet, comfortable and fits my king bed perfectly. I wouldn't say there's a temperature change in the bed and it's not cushiony....because it's a pad not a topper, but it absolutely does what it's supposed to do! Just yesterday my puppy had an accident, in the middle of the bed, while I was changing the sheets. I was in the other room so i don't know exactly when it happened, but I found the pee sitting in beads on top of the protector and it totally stayed there until I could get a towel. Nothing reached the mattress! I am ordering a second one so I can rotate them when I wash the sheets. I was going to run to Target to buy one off the shelf but I'm afraid it won't be as good as this one! So I'll wait the 2 days to ship it and know I'm getting what I want! ... show more
