  • TYR Sport Special Ops 2.0 Polarized Swimming Goggles in White Review
This is a review of the TYR Sport Special Ops 2.0 Polarized Swimming Goggles in White. This has easily become my favorite goggles for swimming. Just a little background, I am currently training for a Tinman Triathlon, and have been swimming in both the ocean and the pool. Since training, the first goggles were a TYR, second was a Speedo, and the third was a generic brand that I do not recall the name, all with the typical style that has been traditionally used by swimmers. Fit: The are the best fitting goggles ever used, and my male cousin feels the same. We both have medium to larger medium sized heads. In fact, he loved these goggles that he picked up 2 for himself. However, my wife and his girlfriend find it a little wide for their smaller sized heads, in particular shorter distance they have between their eyes. It is still usable for them, but not ideal as it is for the guys. What makes it so comfortable are the soft and pliable rubber seals that wrap around the eyes generously. Design: The spacing between the eye cups are just right, the space inside of the eye cup gives me enough space for my long eyelashes, and the connection over the nose is also pliable to conform to your comfort. I also love the fact that there is only one strap wrapping around that splits into two channels near the rear of the head. Having only one strap makes it easy to put on (as opposed to having to deal with two straps) and having it channel into two bands only at the rear can provide a stable fit (for those who have experienced one thin or two thin straps moving down your head when swimming, which either falls down to rub against your ears and irritates the back of your neck). Sight: These goggles are as clear as quality sunglasses. I hope you have a local retailer that you can try these on and see for yourself. By far the clearest lens I have experienced, plus you get the glare protection of polarized lenses. These are also the most effective anti-fogging goggles in my experience. I only had these goggles for a month, so need more time to tell how well this will hold up. Adjustments: They are not the easiest to adjust, as the rubber strap is broad and that provides a lot of surface area to provide friction. However, once it is set, it stays in position extremely well. In conclusion, this is easily the best pair of goggles I have ever experienced. It gets a strong 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. Nothing else comes close to these goggles so far. I am not able to speak on its durability as it has only been used for a month. Perhaps I can give an update later to see how well these hold up. Just for your information, I bought my first pair at a local retailer after trying on every single goggles in the store. Then I used these in both the ocean and pool while training for a triathlon. After that I ordered a second pair from Amazon, and plan on ordering a third one in black. I just love the cool look of the white and blue reflective lens. UPDATE: 03/29/15 The TYR Sport Special Ops 2.0 Polarized Swimming Goggles are still serving me well. I have been swimming about once a week since July 2014 and these goggles are in great shape with no leaks, no cracks in the band, and a clear lens. If there is anything to report, it is just that the anti-fog is not as effective as when it was new. It still provides much anti-fog protection, but not to the extent it did when brand new. Far more amazing than any other goggles I have used. I actually purchased the black one, which has a darker tint for daytime swims, for my cousin. Still a 5.0 out of 5.0 rating. UPDATE: 09/05/15 The TYR Sports Special OPs 2.0 Polarized Swimming Goggles are still going strong, being used once a week either in the ocean or pool. Included are some current pictures on how these have worn. Taking a look, they are in great shape, with very minor scratches (from being in my bag) and some yellowing in the nose piece area. Functionally, the only difference is the goggles will fog a bit more than before, though I can still see the lanes well. The anti-fog just does not work as well. I am sticking with this goggles as long as they keep making it. ... show more

  • these are by far the most comfortable and clear
Color: Green/Black Style: Special Ops
Out of the 3 brands I tried, these are by far the most comfortable and clear. The first pair I tried were not a name brand, but were the top rated swim goggles on amazon so I gave them a try. They were fairly comfortable but a bit bulky and had some leaking issues. I then tried a pair of speedo goggles which were much slimmer, but really hurt my eyes. I just couldn't get them to feel comfortable on my face. I then tried these TYR's and instantly loved them. They form a quick suction on your eye which is nice, but they are incredibly comfortable. They also have much better peripheral vision. Additionally, the greenish color tint that I got are actually pretty nice both indoors in the pool, and free swimming in the ocean on a sunny day. The polarization does a good job of making sunlight tolerable, while also not being too dark to see clearly underwater. ... show more

  • Great Goggles
My favorite goggles, period. I've been using this TYR model for years for lap swimming, open water, triathlons... Never let me down. Love the single piece design. Never have issues with leaks. Very durable. Easy to adjust. Good fit around the head. Lenses do not fog easily. Admittedly I also have a high ridge on my nose which almost always rubs the nose bridge on goggles. The single piece rubber bridge on these may rub a little, but it's soft enough material that even after a mile long swim my nose is fine. Other brands I've had to borrow can be painful in minutes. So if you have a similar nose I would highly recommend ... show more

  • Probably decent, but didn't fit my face right
Color: Gold/Navy Style: Special Ops
These goggles give great vision and I really appreciate the polarized lenses. For being anti for, they still seemed to fog up a tad duing my workouts especially when its really cold out (40's) compared to 80 degree pool. The only problem I have is that they dont fit me perfectly. It is as if the nose piece is a tad to wide since I can get great coverage over one eye, but the other isn't perfect and tends to leak. Again, fit is so subjective on these one size fits all goggles. I have a differnet , far cheaper set of Tyr goggles that fit me perfect. ... show more

  • Better than Most other goggles
Bought these for my daughter. She wanted these because they looked cool. But suprisingly these lasted longer than any other pair she had. She has gone through probably 20 pair of googles even the custom formed ones that contour to your face. These fit very well and sealed well around the eyes and are durable. ... show more

  • On my 12th Pair
Color: Gold/Navy Style: Special Ops
Love these goggles. I'm probably on my 12th pair. They don't leak. They're comfortable and the suction doesn't leave me with weird indentations around my eyes. The range of view is perfect for open water swimming and the polarized lenses protect against the sun. When I use liquid spit, they don't fog up either. I've done 7 mile swims in these and have put in hundreds of thousands of miles in open water over the years. The only drawback, the poloraization coating eventually corrodes in salt water, which is pretty standard. Otherwise they'd last me much longer. Overall, will keep buying! ... show more
