I read all the other reviews and pre-purchased a replacement pole since everyone complained about that (10 ft top rail pole of a chain link fence from HD). Ditto the stakes which, being short and bendable, can't hold anything in the ground. That being said, my biggest complaint is that it's not really 10 ft tall. I expected the light strings to be longer than 10 ft since they angle out, but they're not even 10 ft long themselves. So the tree ends up being like 9 ft which is kinda small now on my good size front yard. The light strings should have been like 11 ft long to make a 10 ft tree. The installation of the tree was pretty simple and didn't take too long. The setup in the app was easy - mapping the lights was quick and painless. It definitely has a wow-factor with the effects, and my kids love being able to "draw" on the tree and create their own designs and patterns. All that said, it is a little underwhelming. Next to my normal Christmas lights, the lights on this tree look a little sparse. After the initial "wow, that's so cool!!", we were left feeling that the cost of this tree was not justified. Maybe paired with other Twinkly sets (icicles, strings, etc.), this would look amazing, but that would cost a small fortune! On it's own, and paired with normal Christmas lights, this tree is not worth the money. ... show more

    • Light Tree would not connect to WiFi

I received a brand-new 10' Light Tree and could not get the controller to stay connected to my WiFi network long enough to map the lights with the Twinkly app. Tried with my house network that runs 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz on the same network ID, and the tree controller connects for less than 10 seconds then loses connection to the Twinkly app. I can see an active connection on my router, but the app cannot find it. I tried with a spare 2.4GHz router and had same problem. I tried the internal WiFi network that the Light Tree can broadcast, and my phone and the Twinkly app can connect to that internal network, but the Light Tree can't connect to its own network. I worked with Twinkly support for several days, exchanging one email per day because they reply in the middle of the early morning. I provided screen capture videos of the Twinkly app on my phone showing the failed setup process and WiFi status, but they would not do anything to fix the problem. Just kept asking me more questions that I had already answered. Had to return my Light Tree because it's obviously defective, and Twinkly support wouldn't help me. At the price point of this item, I was expecting a much better setup experience. Note: I never actually setup the tree outside, because it didn't connect to WiFi inside, but I did notice the pole that you get with this item is very thin metal. You are supposed to pound a section of pole into the ground, and I don't know how it would survive getting hit with a hammer without destroying the end that the rest of the pole is supposed to connect into. ... show more

First, I’m a big fan of Twinkly. But this product falls so far short of expectations. The flagpole is the most unstable thing ever. It leans at 10’ tall and is hollow and flimsy. The ground “stake” isn’t a stake at all but just another pole that you pound into the ground and slide the flag pole over it. Trying to untangle the net of lights is a nightmare. The “template” or measuring “tape” for the stakes is not adequate either. After many tries to get it setup I just boxed it up and returned it. Didn’t even plug it in. Really bad design. ... show more

I was excited about this tree. I also bought the 6 ft one. I set both of them up and they did not look the same. The rows of lights are 12” apart on this tree and 6” apart on the 6’ tree. You can do the programmed patterns on the 6’ tree but not on the 10’ tree. They just look like a bunch of chaser lights. They are so into the programmed patterns set up on their app but you can’t tell any of them when the lights are this far apart. I contacted their customer service and they said to BUY a set of their string lights and wrap the tree to get basically what I should have received in the first place. All the trees should have the lights the same distance apart. That distance should be 6” that matches the picture on the box. Can you believe that they want you to buy more lights to get the tree to look like the other one, please. Buy the 6’ but not anything taller. It is just not worth it not to be able to see the patterns because that is what differentiates these lights and as you can see they are not inexpensive. ... show more

Worked good for about a month…..then half The lights went out. Tried resetting did not Come back on. Product this expensive should last for years not less than 30 days. Would not purchase again.
