I used them paint names and designs on basic felt stockings. I used stencils for the first letter and those did worse than my freehanding the rest of the letters and designs. I drew with a Sharpie and went over it in paint. Overall they were easy to use. I had a hard time doing the tiny snowflakes. Also it takes a few hours to dry, so be careful where your hands lay if you're doing a lot. I waited until the next day to outline in black. I'm very happy with how the colors pop. ... show more

    • Doesn't Puff at All!

I'm completely perplexed by this product and the positive reviews. I remember using this as a kid and seeing the paint really puff up and completely change in texture and size. My kids and I were excited to use this to make their socks non-slip on our hardwood floors. I washed and dried all the socks before we started. I did one pair of socks, followed directions exactly: waited four hours, put my iron on steam setting and let the steam hit the paint, but didn't touch it with the iron. Nothing happened. Huh. I made all kinds of cute designs on 15 more pairs of socks, this time using thick lines, thin lines, filling in shapes, etc. Figured one of those techniques would make this paint work. I let my kids do some designs on paper too, thinking that might work better than on fabric. I even let the paint dry for like a day and a half. Got out my iron and tried steaming this paint again. I held the iron over the socks for so long I had to rest my arm and try again. Surely it shouldn't take this long. Growing really frustrated, I decided to try a hair dryer. Used the low setting, high setting, turbo setting, nothing happened! Now I'm really annoyed and my kids have mostly lost interest. I watched a YouTube video and saw someone with the exact same paint make some squiggly lines and immediately she heated up the paint with a craft heat gun. She got beautifully puffy 3D paint. Okay, so maybe I wasn't supposed to let the paint dry first? Drew some new lines on socks and then paper and steamed them immediately after with my iron. On the socks the paint just melted into the sock and kind of absorbed into a blob. On the paper nothing much happened, melted it a bit. Tried the hair dryer on wet paint, nothing. What on earth? I don't have a heat gun, so can't try that method. So the paint on all the socks is just like slightly raised, slightly tacky, kind of slick. Certainly not what I wanted or expected. So in the end I feel like I probably ruined 15 pairs of brand new socks, the kids were disappointed, and I am annoyed. Maybe the positive reviewers have heat guns or maybe people don't know what it's supposed to look like? Maybe I got a bad batch? I checked the Tulip site to see if they had anything in the FAQ or any tips, couldn't find anything. In the end I think this paint was a waste of money and a huge waste of time. ... show more

These paints were so much fun for the kids and even us adults to play with. Nice good quality for the price I paid. The bottles are actually a decent size and filled to the top unlike other brands. Beautiful colors. There is a lot of paint in each bottle. granddaughter was able to decorate 2 men’s Tshirts with plenty pf paint left over for future projects. The bottles are soft enough for a 5yr old to squeeze without help from an adult. The caps screw on tight -no leaks & the paint has not dried out.
