    • A pretty nice desk for the money.
I was looking for a half way decent desk to replace the old Microwave stand I had been using. Saw this & figured what the hey, I'll give it a go. Being cheap, I went with the $130 Mahogany Brown version, as the fake marble one was $160 & the white one was $147. Really nice color, and the assembly was reasonably easy & fast. The instructions seemed to suggest putting the table top on top of the frame & screwing it on that way, but I found it easier to lay the desk top upside down on the floor and setting the frame on top of it to see the screw holes better, and it wasn't that hard to flip it upright by one person. They really should have supplied a better Philips Head screwdriver though. It was fine for the brass screws that held the plastic legs to the CPU stand, but just spun around in the bolts that hold the desktop to the frame. It was packed well, although Styrofoam is a tad messy when removing it from the carton. But no damage to the metal frames or desktops. As for the "CPU" stand, I didn't even mess with it. I put my Cooler Master H500P Mesh case on the desk and while the front & back do hang over the edges a half an inch, the computer is quite solid. The computer wouldn't even fit on the small stand. All in all, my experience with this desk has been very good unlike the UPS driver who had to lug the 62 pound package up the stairs. I told her I have another on the way & I think she's planning to go on vacation now! I do have two wishes, one is that they had an option for the angled table to be on the right, and the other one is I wish the table depth would be 5 or 6 inches deeper than it is now. Had this desk for about a month now. Here are my initial thoughts. Pros: - Was well packaged (in my case at least) with no noticeable blemishes on the surface. - Was easy to build and had all the tools required (it says you need a hammer. You do not), the actual quality of the desk is great. - Lots and lots of desk space. I've managed to fit 3 monitors and 2 laptops at the same time. It's pretty great. - Plenty of room under the desk, even with it on the lowest height setting (it's adjustable, but not by that much; it's an OK system) - Fairly solid. I was actually going to put this on the cons until I remembered I have it set up on a very thick carpet. The desk certainly could be more stable, however it is by no means bad. - Room under the desk. I'm mentioning this again because of how incredible it is. Most L-desks are just 2 independent smaller desks and there's crossmembers where they meet, so you can't use any of that area. The entire usable area of the desk is fantastic, and the foot rests are also fantastic. This desk is actually better out in the middle of the room than against a wall, especially if you're tall (I'm 6'3" and I can stretch out so much with this thing.) Cons: - Due to the way the desk is set up, the clamp-mount VESA stands are either not an option, or very hard to use. The corner piece has an actually perfect mounting location for one, but the other parts aren't amazing. This also makes wire management more difficult. I have velcro ties but the horizontal metal pieces are not accessible to tie to. - The included computer stand looks nice, but there are no holes drilled, so it's not really usable without a drill (it does come with screws though). - Other thoughts: - Pretty heavy desk. This thing was a pain to get inside. I understand why it's so heavy and it's not exactly a con, but it's something to keep in mind. - It's not incredibly deep. It's 18" deep on the desk surface, which isn't bad, however there are much deeper desks, however not many are L-desks. This is overall an absolutely fantastic desk. I would recommend this to anybody who likes L-desks and has the room for it. ... show more

I'm writing a long-ish review for those who are interested in a more detailed feedback. TLDR; The desk is sturdy, stylish, and can be put together by a single person. It is priced competitively to similar desks. The model I received had a few very slight blemishes, but it doesn't take anything away from the function or overall look of the product. PROS: - Very sturdy - Looks good - Lots of space - Easy to put together by single person CONS: - Instructions were vague and parts were poorly labeled - Slight imperfections in a couple locations Overall, I really like this desk. It has a lot of surface space and looks really good assembled. I am a relatively short petite female and was able to successfully assemble the desk by myself and flip it into the upright position. This is not to give the impression that it is flimsy. I am able to and have sat on this desk and wiggled around without it wobbling. The instructions are not super clear (I believe a few others have commented on this) and my parts were not labeled well. It appears that the company who manufactures these must be small as my parts were hand labeled. This being said I was still able to figure out how which part went where and completed assembly in 1.5 hours alone and not completely focused. I imagine that assembly may go faster with two people. Once assembled, the desk has a lot of room and looks good. I have attached some photos demonstrating this and from multiple angles. Although the wood is not real, it is sturdy. The base structure of the desk is dense hollow metal bars, adding some weight. The faux appearance does have a slight grain to it, but I don't have issues when writing with a lone piece of paper, however this may be a factor to some (even though most would write in a notebook or on a stack). My model has a slight imperfection that is echoed in other reviews at the joint of the two table tops (which I have included a photo of) where the very top stack of the particle board has chipped slightly off. I don't notice it all and it doesn't hinder the overall workings of the desk. In all I like this desk a lot and I'm hoping to put it to good use over the years as a graduate student. In the month since I purchased this desk I have had no issues or seen any more surface chipping. I'll update this review if anything drastic happens. ... show more
