Description

As a founding member of The New York Society of the Classic Guitar, Vladimir. Bobri was well respected for his artistry and collaboration with the masters of his time, including Andres Segovia and Ida Presti. Bobri also authored well respected study guides, including " The Complete Study Of The Tremolo" that is still used today. Bobri had an idea to mute the strings on a classical guitar to help focus on improving technique. He rolled Hanes stockings and wedged them in front of the bridge. To simplify and improve on the overall idea, Rosette now offers an affordable tool for tremolo improvement, the TremoloMute. New! From Rosette, the TremoloMute tremolo and arpeggio practice tool adds a new dimension to the goal of mastering tremolo and arpeggio. TremoloMute safely damps string vibration just enough to allow you to focus on how you approach string contact, including how your nails and fingertips make when striking the strings. Tremolo Mute decreases string movement, adding a sensation of increased resistance. Use TemoloMute twice through your exercise / music piece, then remove it and play again. The contrast is invigorating and you will improve your accuracy and tone. You actually learn to use less effort to produce a smoother tremolo.. Use the TremoloMute as part of your study regimen and you will notice considerable improvement in your progress. TremoloMute slides quickly under your guitar strings and rests right in front of the bridge. The multi-layered material is safe for any guitar finish. The closed cell top strip adjusts to your string height. It has a hollow core that allows just the right amount of contact against the strings. This is a simple but incredible practice tool, and it should be in every classical guitar case! Instructions and study guide included. Complete satisfaction is guaranteed.

  • Works PERFECTLY
Love it, love it. I have used on both ukes and guitar. The enclosed pad strips makes it work on different string action heights. Great for muting, but just add the pad strips and you can get the sound of a rubber bridge that, for some reason, is so popular now. Steve

  • Works without throwing out of tune
It’s simple and works. Tried a couple of other guitar mutes, but they threw the guitar out of tune. This one doesn’t.

  • I like this product. So far so good.
I use this every day because my family doesn't like me practicing "drills" all the time, but this mutes it pretty well while still letting me get in good practice. My main concern is that it's obvious the high E and B strings are pushing too deep into the rubber, and it's only a matter of time before it slices open and needs to be replaced. But, it's either that, or it gets too loose. For the price though, I will probably buy again once that happens. ... show more

  • This is not overpriced. It works.
Before this purchase, I bought another mute here on Amazon that attaches between the strings; it's a piece of black plastic with slots for the middle strings (of a 6-string nylon string guitar). I was hesitant to have anything sandwiched between the strings and soundboard. However, that one acted more like a silencer than a mute. I read another review that said that these were parts that could be found anywhere and that this was overpriced. I disagree. Yes, one could find the top-most piece at a hardware store: it appears to be door sealant tubing. The other pieces are some sort of a similar material with adhesive to make them stick together onto the door sealant. However, when I place this mute under my strings, I have no anxiety that this is going to warp my sound board or cause any damage. I have no feeling that this will become dislodged and end up on the floor or pop off into the sound-hole as it's snug and securely in place. I have no sense that this will get stuck in place and I would have to scrape it off in pieces. Above all these, it works very effectively: it resonates the note of the string yet mutes a majority of the vibration so that I can still audibly hear the note I plucked but without the loudness of the string as all the sound came from the sound-hole. It simply works, and works simply. That is exactly what it's designed to do, and this is what it delivers -- and very well. Is it worth the asking price? Most definitely. Don't allow the simplicity of the parts detract from the value of this item. All the best tools for nylon string classical guitar are simple. Even the way the strings are changed and tied carries with it a level of simplicity. It's a great value for the money: someone has figured out how to make the above work for you without much hassle. I think it's worth the ~$10 I paid that I didn't have to risk damaging my classical guitar coming up with my own mute to have all the benefits I just listed. ... show more

  • Warning: keep out of reach of dogs
This mute gives a guitar the pizzicato effect. You will hear all the notes clearly, but there’s no sustaining notes—no resonance whatsoever. It will reduce the overall volume by around 50%. I’m trying to find a mute that completely reduces the sound so all one can hear is the plucking, now that I’m living with roommates again. The other mute brands just don’t give you enough info. People like my playing, but I don’t want anyone listening when I’m practicing. ... show more

  • Just what I was looking for
I was trying to get some interesting plucky/dampened sounds similar to a rubber bridge—I had tried a variety of purchased and homemade solutions, this is my favorite so far. Also like that there are a couple of extra riser strips included for further customization. Ordered two more!

  • Very happy with the purchase.
Nicely mutes the strings all across without messing with the notes. Imagine a palm mute across the strings, but with more sustain. It's very enjoyable to play while equipped with this tool, whether it's finger style, with a pick, strumming, etc. The packaging was simple and effective for safe delivery. There are instructions/information, and two additional strips that come with it, in case you need it to adjust according to the height of the strings. I needed just one additional strip and it was a perfect fit on my Kremona classical guitar. Much better than using a sock, rubber guitar silencer, or foams that can be a bit finicky to get the right amount of mute. Superior for intended use. ... show more

  • Literally, perfect
I was a little hesitant to order this because a few others had panned it as needlessly overpriced compared to a piece of foam. Let me tell you -- I had ordered some regular 1 inch window insulation foam and tried to cut it to height, and it is not easy to cut straight. Additionally, the insulation foam very quickly degrades and becomes "dusty". When sliding it up to the bridge, the strings themselves have a sawing effect, leaving bits of residue on the strings and on the guitar body. I also felt that the open cell foam would have an abrasive effect on the guitar finish when installing and removing it. This tremolo mute is not like insulation foam at all, so I'm so glad I didn't listen to the naysayers. The top is more like very soft foam rubber, with a very, very soft bottom fabric that feels a bit like chamois. It slides along the finish very easily, doesn't bind and roll under the strings like the insulation foam did, and was *literally* the perfect height to fit my Yamaha GC42C. I didn't have to do anything apart from install it in place. The strings don't leave saw marks on it, and it doesn't leave residue when installing or removing it. As a nice touch, mine came with a hand-written note and a full page of practice tips for using the mute for developing technique. Just in the first few days of using it, I noticed an improvement in my timing because I can really hear the thumps synchronize with the metronome when playing fast arpeggios. This is exactly the tool that I have been looking for. If you are unsure, just take the leap. You will be glad you did. ... show more
