I’ve had the tractive XL for about 9months now and I love it. My Labrador retriever wears it 24/7 and it’s like it wasn’t there. The GPS works well, I’ve had to track him once after my dog started chasing a rabbit and the live feature was very precise and responsive. It alerts you when your dog leaves the “home” perimeter that you can set (either a circle or multiple points) as a virtual fence. I have tracked my dog from across the globe and even took him abroad and it worked flawlessly. The battery life is excellent, I decided to go for the XL for that reason and it was WORTH IT. I charge this thing maybe once a month and that’s it. The battery saving feature when connected to wifi works great. As for the health tracking, I love it , you get to see how many active minutes your dog gets everyday and you can set goals and compete worldwide with all the other tractive users. It also tracks sleeps and rest and it gives you a good idea of how well your dog is doing. It’s like wearing a Garmin or Apple Watch but for your dog. As far as solidity, it’s a solid little box, my dog has chewed on it and it held up just fine. A little tip: if your dog is super active like mine and loves to run and roll around I would put a zip tie around the collar and the GPS just to make sure it doesn’t come off as the little rubber holder tends to fall off from time to time. But if you have a calm dog that shouldn’t be an issue. Over all I love this product and would definitely recommend anyone with a dog to get one. ... show more

While you do have to buy a plan to be able to track your bet 24/7, the plan options in my opinion are very reasonably priced. This gps tracker works perfectly, you can set virtual fences that will send you an alert when your pet enters and leaves these fences. The app is very user friendly and my family LOVES to track our dog and monitor his health, sleep habits, and activity levels since we can add family members to view the profile. Overall, I can’t recommend this tracker enough, I wish I had bought it sooner. Our dog is 68 lbs so we ended up going with the XL size. It’s a little funny looking but he doesn’t seem to mind it attached to his collar at all! ... show more

    • Really good witha few flaws

I am a previous owner of the halo system and purchased tractive for its battery life, which turns out to be amazing. The device appears to have three levels of location detection. These work extremely well except for the "safe zone" , Where the live GPS is suspended it's far too large. Second, there is no absolute override to allow for GPS tracking when you're in that large safe zone. I have not been able to get any technical support other than what is on their FAQ which does not address these issues. In comparison, the halo system has real time face to face zoom like technical support. Having said that, I vastly prefer The tractive system. ... show more
