Top Amazon Reviews

  • From an IT Network Tech's perspective, it's not perfect, but excellent for the price
Style: Single
As a disclaimer, I have just received this today, and have not taken it to a job site yet. As such this is just a "first impressions" review, and my thoughts may change as I use it, which I will update here if so. Second, this is for the Toughbuilt Small Electrician's Pouch, I feel I should point that out since Amazon likes to bundle all these different product's reviews onto one page. Third, this is a real review, I am not sponsored or endorsed by anyone, these are 100% my own opinions. I am an IT Network Technician, and I was looking for a tool pouch that could hold my most used or essential tools, so that I have them at my side at a job site and I don't have to lug my larger tool bag into the site unless I need more tools than this thing could hold. I searched around for a while and settled on this one. While it doesn't hold EVERY single one of the tools I'd like it to hold, I am so far happy with it. I just have to see how it actually is when I go to use it. PROS: 1. I like the kickstand. Depending on how much you put in here, it may get a little wobbly, but if you have your tools spread out so the pouch doesn't skew too much to one side, it should be able to sit on flat surfaces pretty well. This way I can unclip it and set it down on a table or the floor in case I need to have some more mobility or I am tired of the weight (more on that later). 2. The clip system is pretty cool as well. It includes a clip piece that you can either attach to your belt (no need to remove your belt to install the clip piece either, it is totally possible to put the clip piece on after you've already got your belt), or you can mount it to the wall with some extra screws using the provided screw holes. When it is clipped to your belt the clip shouldn't go anywhere, as the piece you attach to your belt snaps together after it is on, and the pouch can only be removed when you push in on the tab, so the system feels sturdy. CONS: 1. I wish this was just a little bit bigger. I know Toughbuilt sells ones in larger sizes, but to me those seemed too big or bulky, and knowing myself I would get carried away and I would load more in it than what it needs and make it very heavy. If this bag was just a tiny bit bigger, all the tools I need would fit comfortably without having to jam them in. 2. So far, the clip system seems sturdy, but I have seen a number of reviews online saying the clip on the pouch will wear down and eventually stop "clicking" and it will start to fall out, causing people to have to buy a new pouch once every year or so. However, to me, this isn't a huge deal, as I was able to get this for like $24, which is cheap enough for me to be willing to buy another one if I decide to. Additionally, I will not use mine every day, as I am not on a job site every day, so I may only use this pouch 3 or 4 times a month. It seemed like people were using this every single day in the other reviews, so maybe this will last far longer for me. Time will tell. OTHER THOUGHTS: 1. This pouch feels pretty heavy, but that could just be my fault for shoving it full of all these tools. Your mileage may vary depending on how many tools you put in. 2. There are like 3 or 4 carabiner loops on this pouch, so if you want to you can attach more items to this pouch with carabiners. 3. The one extra item I wish I had room for was a Cat 5/6 keystone jack punchdown holder, as I do use that occasionally, but it just would not fit, as all my other tools pretty much stuffed this pouch full. Not a huge deal, as I am happy with the rest of the items it can hold, I just wish that it could hold this one last thing. TOOLS I HAVE PUT IN SO FAR: 1. Intellinet Cable Tester 2. Needle Nose Pliers 3. Cat5/6 Cable Stripper 4. Williams Multi Bit Screwdriver 5. Standard Cat5/6 Crimp Tool 6. Vertical Cable Cat 6 Keystone Jack Crimp Tool 7. TrendNet Punch Down Tool 8. Pittsburgh 6" Diagonal Cutters 9. Tape Measure 10. Roll of electrical tape These all fit comfortably, but snug. I don't think I could fit any more in here unless I experiment with the arrangement of the tools and see if I can wiggle some more space free. CONCLUSION: I think the best use case I can see for this pouch is that you bring it along with your standard tool bag/box, and evaluate which tools you'll need most at that particular job. Then fill it up quick and away you go. Unless you have a niche job where you only ever use a few tools, then you may find you use some tools less than others, or you use different tools in different scenarios. If you have the money and extra tools, you could buy a few of these pouches and put different sets of tools in them, and then grab whichever pouch you need for the job. Having the ability to wall mount the clips could help in this scenario, especially if you have a work vehicle like a truck or van where you could have the ability to wall mount things. Just wall mount all your pouches, then quickly grab them as needed. For me, I am happy with the product since it will hold most of the tools I need at every job site, and I can bring along the bag/box if I need to bring additional items with me. ... show more

  • Great idea…could use a little refinement.
Style: Journeyman
After seeing a lot of guys at work using Toughbilt bags, I purchased several styles to try out. Ultimately I settled on this one as it fits most of my needs. Pros: The clip feature is great as far as being able to take them off and on your belt quickly and then using the stand feature to allow you to work out of the pouch without it falling over. Plenty of room in the pouch for almost everything I need Quality of the pouch means it holds up well over time. I’m hard on tool pouches climbing up and down ladders all day in and out of attics and crawl spaces and through wooded areas. The warranty is fantastic. Emailed their support about an issue with the hub part of several bags and had a whole box filled f new ones at my door in about 2 weeks. Cons: over time the clips wear out, sometimes you get an advance working as the pin that allows it to pivot open will start to slide out one end. Other times they just snap. Would be nice to see a revised clip and hub design possibly out of a more durable material such as metal. When either of those parts fail, it means picking up all my tools that scatter and there’s a potential to cause damage to a customers property or lose a tool. The dividers in the pouch center don’t go all the way to the bottom and allow objects to work their way down and across the bottom of it at times. Eventually I’ll make some dividers out of something like kydex to solve this issue. The loops on the front and the flashlight holder near them are useless to me as are the pockets on the outside on the other side of the pouch. I don’t carry a large flashlight, though I have used it for a hammer and the tool pouches just don’t fit thing the way I’d like leading to tools sliding out the bottom or popping out the top. Overall I’m happy with them for the price and also have purchased 2 different drill holsters and several other bags from them. I have a board in my work truck we’re several different bags hang for different purposes and it’s nice being able to grab the one I need and go. It’d be great if they let you design a bag from a list of options to be able to add or remove certain features but that’s asking a lot at this price point from a company that mass produces them. I’d be willing to pay more for customization however, and I’m sure others would as well. ... show more

  • Love this upgrade!
Style: Single
I recently upgraded from a smaller pouch from the same brand with velcro and I got to say that this one is so much more convenient. Times where I don't need it I just press a button it comes right off. Same goes to clip it on. The velcro version can really be a pain in the butt. This one , like the last one I had seems very well made and it gets beat up on a daily basis. Pay the extra few dollars and get this one. I promise you having the clip will save you a lot of frustration. ... show more

Style: Journeyman
I use this pouch and the belt as well as four other of toughbuilts products for my day to day job as a HVAC technician I highly recommend this pouch and the rest of the products that toughbuilt has to offer I have 4 pouches (different sizes) and the small drill holster they are all badass on the job

  • Holds lot, comfortable and thoughtful pockets
Style: Single
Holds a decent amount of tools. I love the quick removal and kickstand so I don’t have to wear it all day and have most tools I’ll need frequently close by. I feel like the pockets were actually well thought out instead of just slapping some pouches on it like other bags I’ve used. Time will tell for the durability of it but so far so good. ... show more
