    • Comfortable!
These boots are extremely comfortable after a short day or so break-in period. I've had them for about two weeks, and have been wearing them almost daily. When I get home, I don't even bother to take them off because they still feel fine on my feet. I went to work today, took a two mile hike on sand and a hill of small boulders, got home cleaned up a little, went back out, and am now sitting at a computer writing this review... still wearing the boots and haven't taken them off since putting them on this morning over 12 hours ago. I didn't expect these to feel like a pair of running shoes, but they're really that comfortable. They're also very lightweight and have performed very well in el niño storms, flooding, and puddles -- no wet socks. Traction is decent, and the size is correct for what I wear with athletic and dress shoes. UPDATE: 5/2/2016 (4 months since original review) I've been using these boots on an everyday basis and they're still just as comfortable as I mentioned in the original review. They're holding up well and still look like they're new. No wear and tear showing, leather and stitching are still in great condition and easy to keep clean. ... show more

    • Excellent Hiking Boots at a reasonable price! <Updated>
Received these boots as a birthday gift given my old Merril boots were falling apart. It's been about a month of regular use, with a couple of hiking trips and these boots are great. They are light & rugged, with plenty of space for your toes. Arch support is great. No need to wear insoles. In short: No sore feet, no blisters. Looking forward to go camping with the family to put them through their paces. Update: June 12, 2014. Did some hiking around Mammoth Lakes, CA and Yosemite. They feel much more comfortable now after a few times using them. I'm very pleased with these boots and looking forward to many years of service. I will definitively recommend these boots to a friend... One last thing, if you get the boots make sure to get the Sof Sole Mink Oil to condition the leather. I didn't :( and now I am waiting until I order something else from Amazon to include it as part of the shipment. Cheers! ... show more

    • Good Comfortable Boots
I gave these boots 4 stars and maybe should have given them five. Out of the box, they are comfortable, seem well-built and are comfortable on my troubled feet. I have knee problems and neuropathy and these boots seem to be helpful with the burning painful sensations I've been experiencing. They are light and comfortable, and my feet feel good in them. What more is there to say. I also bought a pair of Merino wool socks and they are also quite comfortable. I'm an old boot snob, bought my first pair of White Loggers when I was 16 (they were uncomfortable, too) and have bought lots of good boots since. This time my choice was between desert combat type boots and these. I chose these because they were so highly rated on Amazon and it looks to be a good choice. The boots are light,and are the standard European type hiking boot that's been around for the last 50 years. The sole appears to be one piece, so if it comes loose, I doubt if there is any fixing it. Lacing is speed laces and eye hooks, something I appreciate now. The laces are the right length to allow for a double knot, but not so long as to be flopping all over the place. I'll post more if I have a problem with these, maybe update them to 5 stars if I don't... ... show more

    • Excellent boots for casual winter wear

I definitely had to break them in. I started with mink oil, then wore three pairs of socks and steamed with a steam iron, then let dry. I use these boots for casual wear through winter slush and snow shoveling and they are great for that.

    • These boots are made for walking

I would wear a size 10 1/2 shoe. Sometimes 11. I ordered an 11 1/2 and it fit perfectly. There is good support. I walked 5 miles and then my second day and my feet were fine. They’re comfortable.

    • Work Boot for cleaning swimming pools
I purchased this boot 2.5 months ago. It's still holding up strong and I love it so much that I thought i would write a quick review. I'm a professional pool cleaner. I work long days and need a comfortable and light work boot. I'm around water all the time. Cleaning filters is a very wet and dirty business when it's time to do it. This is the best boot I've ever purchased. Fits comfortably and Light. Keeps me dry and my feet feel strong and supported all day long. I use them to mow my lawn as well. Highly recommended. I'm gonna buy another pair just incase they discontinue them. I wear a size 10 and this fits just fine. I do a lot of backpacking in the High Sierra here in California. I would not recommend these boots for that type of hiking due to the light design. Not enough support for uneven ground and jagged rocks. ... show more

    • They are extremely comfortable and surprisingly lightweight
Bought them for high-desert hiking outside of Las Vegas, NV. Instead of packing them, I wore them on the plane trip out. They are extremely comfortable and surprisingly lightweight. They performed very well while hiking and and even got into some snow at the higher elevations: they kept my feet dry and warm with a good lightweight wool sock. I like the all-leather in case some frightened snake takes a shot at me. Not much to worry as they don't really attack for no reason and the dogs let us know if they are about. Use them for walking on cold days in OK. Nice looking for a hiking boot: can easily wear them out and about downtown if you wish ... show more

    • Great Shoes!
These shoes were awesome. I wore them for about 7 months, and one day while I was heading into a store in Chicago a homeless guy started complimenting me on them. He gave me some tips for wearing 2 pairs of socks since it was below zero. I thanked him, and asked him how he was surviving the cold. He usually sold Streetwise Magazine, a magazine for chicagos homeless to make living wages to buy food and pay for shelter. I noticed his shoes were falling apart. I asked him what shoe size he wore and if he usually sold his magazines in the area which he confirmed he did. Later that night I went online and ordered him a pair of these shoes. They arrived in about 2 days, and when they got to my house I quickly brought them down to the store where the man was. He thanked me for the shoes, and that was the last time I saw him.
