  • Happy Tiling :-)
Color: Bella Size: 5 Sheets
Hello all! I wanted to update part of the kitchen that would entail: 1) a reasonably priced project (check), 2) not too difficult to install (need to be patient & having a steady hand helps), 3) will last (time will tell, but so far, so good) & 4) easy to clean. Enter...Tic Tac Tiles. Initially, I ordered a pack of 10 which went up well... In preparation of the project, it would behoove one to measure well in advance as to how many tiles you will need (if you are able, add a few extra - just to have on hand in case they are needed) . Also, know the tiles are quite sticky and will lose some adhesive if you need to keep removing and reapplying. My own error was not doing a correct measurement at the start of the project , so I had to order a couple additional packs of tiles. I do not have a proper before photo to show so an after may not do justice, but overall I am pleased. They have helped the kitchen take on a more modern and clean look! A big plus! *My best advice - Measure well before and during application, Line up the tiles the best you can to ensure a good seal where one tile ends & the next begins (this will help the look of them overall and also helps with cleaning as you want all the edges to be flush with the wall). There are a few areas I needed to either line up better, the adhesive was giving (and/or the wall was not completely smooth which was my issue & not the tiles) so a few edges are not as smooth as all the others. So, learn from me, and make sure to line the tiles up properly from the first application and as you go, use a smoothing tool to make sure the tiles are stuck to the wall as well as they can be and again, are flush with the wall...Double check those corners & edges and you should be pleased! Lastly, ideally it is best to have a smooth surface to work with....This will give the best outcome. The tiles need a smooth, flat surface to do their job well. I had a question/concern at the end of the project regarding a few tiles adhesive and contacted the company. They responded straight away, were nice & helpful, answered any concerns/questions and were pleasant doing business with. I hope this helps a little & happy tiling! :-) ... show more

  • Work Right to left for flawless finish!
Color: Bella Size: 10 Sheets
Fantastic product! My kitchen looks great with this. The adhesive seems very strong. I still used some spray-on adhesive because of wall defects and I advise to have some on hand. I also used silicone/caulk to seal the free edges and give it a real tiled look (feel free to use grout that comes in a tube but to me silicone/caulk is more malleable). I'm desperate to find something white to trim it with (at this point will settle for white electral tape). IMPORTANT: this works best if installed from RIGHT to LEFT, unlike other tiles this has a varied design in each tile so you can't just connect anywhere. Has to be in a straight line across for a seamless look. In one wall I started left to right, and it was a HEADACHE having to hold the overlap edge with the backing until I was ready for the next tile. Also not 10×10, about .5 inch smaller on either side. Idk much about square footage but I used 40 tiles to achieve my look. I have a small galley-style kitchen in a "post-war" NYC building.....sooo basically TINY. Had no full tiles left over. I found cutting with scissors to be easier than a box cutter, more control. Seems easy to clean but we'll see after a few months. Get a squeegee, or something similar, to press tiles firmly in place (better than your hand). Drawing a line across before hand is a great guide to use. Unfortunately for me my floor isnt level, so neither is the counter etc. I followed the edges of my cabinets and counters and did fairly well. Not sure if anyone will find this tip useful but I labeled the back of my tiles with "Top/Bottom" "Left/Right" whenever I had to designate a tile to be cut. Made it easier for me to reuse the tiles quickly e/o having to figure out where they go. If you like the counters: white primer (one that doesnt require sanding, 3 $.70 bottles of acrylic paint from Michael's and 2 boxes of epoxy resin top coat (about $60) ... show more

  • Updated and clean kitchen
Color: Bella Size: 10 Sheets
Okay, so last weekend I decided to update/change my kitchen. For 11 years I had a plain white counter top and no backsplash. We updated pretty much everything in the house but the kitchen. As many know, the cost for a new kitchen would be too much and wasn't an option for me. First, I stumbled upon the Giani Granite kit Chocolate Brown. Basically you paint the counter tops to look like granite. It was a 3 day project and turned out good. Second, a backsplash was definitely needed to complete the look. I purchased another brand but the colors were off and came upon this product. Honestly, it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. I didn't rush the project, but it took me around 3 hours and two days. You must order more because the tiles are not sized right, they are smaller and I needed another box. The quality is good, they look like tiles but when you go up close, you can tell they they are not real. You have to go slow and try to attach the tile sheet at first attempt. If you keep removing it from the wall, it loses the glue and won't stick to the wall. I wasted around 3 tile sheets because it wouldn't align right. At first, I also sprayed some adhesive glue just in case, but really it's not needed. I tried to measure and level everything, but it was hard to do with 2 young kids interrupting all the time. Later on, I will add caulk around the countertops and may add grout to keep it securely in place. First picture is when I painted the black primer over the counter top and no backsplash. Others are when project is completed. You can notice some of my mistakes, but overall it has changed the look of the kitchen, it looks updated and clean. ... show more
