Works as desired with my Alfine hub. Minus two stars as I have to carry an additional wrench size to change a tire. They should either make the nuts 15mm or include a nut of the same size for the other side.

I am so happy this worked! I have a Public bike with a Shimano Nexus internal hub and an InStep trailer. Since this product is Thule, I wasn't sure if it would work for the InStep, but it does! It was pretty hard to find any info about this issue on the Internet and my bike store hadn't seen this problem before. I have an electric e3 Zuma bike with shimano. I purchased the adapter for the shimano axle, and it was way to small. Not even in the ballpark. Very unhappy with the product.
