This was a gift, and I was unaware that he already had one. He thinks this one is much nicer. He had a problem getting it all together, but part of that had to do with not reading directions. I think anything that is portable, hands-free, and keeps mosquitoes away is worth having, and, honestly, you can't get much for $25 anymore. Easy to use? On/off switch, the little scent paper goes behing the grill, couldn't be easier. Even changing the fuel is easy. This one is blue, so he should be able to find it if he drops it.

So far I like my new Thermacell, although have only tried it out in my wooded backyard. It does seem to keep the mosquitoes away. I'll update in a short while as soon as I use it more extensively. I need to assess how long the cartridges and pads last as that will influence my review.

Took this item on a trip to the Boundary waters and I could not have been more pleased with hwo well it preformed. I was skeptical, but this really did create a scentless bubble around us that allowed my son and I to prepare meals and visit our latrine without being destroyed by mosquitoes. He is just 2 years old so I was ultra concerned with managing his exposure to bites on our three day trip. The Thermacell really help control the situation and made it more than just manageable, it was pleasant.

My brother used this last week at a shooting tournament and came back raving about how well it worked. Everyone else was being eaten alive despite using loads of spray bug repellent. Not my brother! He turned this one and all bugs around him for about 5+ feet just disappeared. This is a personal device, you have to wear it, it is not for a long range like around a big yard or enclosure. Buy the refill too, you won't be sorry.

Repeller initially did not work at all. Ignition fluid would not light. Contacted Thermacell direcly, since my return time was up. They responded quickly to my emails and replaced the missing ignition fluid promptly. I was very impressed with their customer service and response time. With the new ignition fluid the Repeller started right up. Very happy with my purchase and customer service.
