Description

Anne and Harlow Rockwell's preschool classic still shines with a well-crafted simplicity that speaks to the desire young children feel to make something uniquely their own. Look inside this well-loved toolbox-there is so much to discover! It holds strong wrenches that turn, pliers that pinch, and sandpaper that smoothes. There are nails, screws, and a hammer. A toolbox is a treasure trove for curious young builders. When they're not running to explore their own tool collections, children will be glued to this book, exploring the shapes, names, and useful jobs of common hand tools. Read more

  • Perfect for a toddler with a tool workbench
This 18 month old boy LOVES tools. My children had this book when young and enjoyed it. I bought this little guy the board book because he has been known to tear pages. It goes really well with the tool workbench (and plastic tools) I also gave him. He is 16 months old, loves tools, books, and cars. Two out of three makes this a winner! ... show more

  • My (almost) 2 year old boy loves it
I bought this book for my son who at the time was about 20 months old. I'm a tool collector and love to work on things. Of course my son is starting to get curious himself and kept calling tools by the wrong names. Once I saw this book I knew I had to get it, and now he understands many names of tools and wants me to read this one to him over and over. He really does love it. I highly recommend this one, very good father/son bonding going on. ... show more

  • So simple and sweet. We bought this book for our 3 year ...
The sweetest little story for anyone who loves tools. So simple and sweet. We bought this book for our 3 year old son with autism and he thinks it's him and his dad in the book. Just so so sweet. Our son loves tools and always runs and gets his tool box to pick out the tools as we read it to him.

  • It was copyrighted in 1971, and so the toolbox if full of
vintage tools, all of which I have, but more as curiosities or antiques. I like the book, but if you're expecting cordless drill/drivers, ratcheting box end wrenches or plaslode nail guns ... well, no. It's charming and even in 1971 it was a bit dated. If you love tools and want your child to love tools, get it. They can see what their grandfather or great grandfather had to work with. ... show more

  • Clearly a classic!
We gave this book and the Green Toys Tool Set to my daughter and she LOVED it. It is obviously dated (who has a plane or a wooden folding tape measure any more?) but she wants to read it over and over and she names the tools. We got her a cheap tape measure and small clamp to put in the box so she has more of the tools, but she is happy to just read the book over and over. ... show more

  • A Strong Contender For Best Gift Ever!
It was a gift for my 21/2yo niece who I was told wouldn't put it down upon opening, even to open other Christmas gifts. It was a great success.

  • memory lane
I remembered this book from when I was a child. Love that it's still available. Very simple sentences and pictures on each page. If I had one complaint, it would be that it's a boy child and it's specifically the father's toolbox--why can't it be mom's tools, or the family's tools? Still a gem.

  • 2 year old loves it.
The first package was a digital frame, my grandson wasn't too thrilled. If I upload the video from my phone I will update this. It was sort of funny. lol The company immediately sent him The Toolbox and he loves it.
