This is the second North Face rain jacket I have in this style. Before a trip to Costa Rica I couldn't find the first one and couldn't travel to the rainforest without it, so ordered a second, knowing this is my go to rain jacket. I'm 5' 6" 148 lbs. and got a size large...it's roomy but I want to be able to layer underneath it in cooler weather. It has large pockets with zippers, underarm zip-open air vents for hotter weather and a flattering fit. I got Light Grey Heather and really like this color!

Whether I had 2-3 layers or a puffy jacket under this for warmth, this jacket was a success in Iceland. It was suggested as a must-have item while visiting there by quite a few travel blogs so I took everyones suggestion to get the next size up (I am normally an XS/S in tops, so I got a Medium in this jacket to allow for layering). This jacket kept me dry at the waterfalls and throughout all of the rain - it also performed well in very windy conditions. I wish that the hood had a bit more structure/more of a bill, but grab a ball cap and you will be fine.

Runs large. I wear medium but should have ordered a large instead of extra large. I was seeking a loose fit. These jackets usually run a little small but this one is definitely generously sized.

Fabric and construction seem to be good North Face quality. Should be a nice jacket for rainy or cool days from Spring through Fall. There is not an inner pocket or a chest pocket, but the hand pockets are constructed so that an interior pocket is formed from the pocket stitching (could be used for a cell phone or small wallet). The hand pockets have zipper closures, the jacket has zipper vents in the underarms for ventilation, the inner seams are sealed to keep moisture out, the sleeve cuffs have adjustable velcro closures to keep the sleeves nice and snug. I am 5'6", 128 lbs, and the medium size is plenty loose enough on me to wear a bulk sweatshirt underneath the jacket. The color selection is awesome - I might order another jacket in a size small in another color just to have a spare.
