Features

  • WHAT DOES IT SMELL LIKE? Smells of good bourbon, old-fashioned tobacco, and a hint of leather.
  • WHAT IS SOLID COLOGNE ANYWAY? Its a pocket-perfect round tin of all natural organic scent that you can carry with you wherever you go. Its not overpoweringly strong, but easy to re-apply if you need a little boost. They're designed to create an ambiance, not an impact. And while some say this is a manly scent, I assure you, it's suitably amazing for both men and women.
  • HOW DO I USE IT? Rub it directly on your pulse points (yeah, go ahead and rub the tin right on there!) - or - swirl your finger around on the surface until its nice and warmed, and then apply.
  • HOW IS SOLID COLOGNE MADE? These are small-batch, handcrafted artisan colognes. They come in a little tin with a twist-top, and the little tin comes in a very fine (and reusable, I might add) match-style slider box. Its made with natural ingredients like cocoa butter and beeswax. Its hard to the touch, but melts when you warm it a little bit.
  • IS THIS GOOD FOR ME? IS IT GOOD FOR THE PLANET? Outlaw products are made with integrity. This means recycled and/or recyclable packaging, Leaping Bunny certified cruelty-free, natural and sustainable production practices, and Whole Foods approved ingredients (so you know its good!). We guarantee our products. If its not what you had hoped it would be, just get in touch with us and well make it right.

  • Gambler >> Duke Cannon Bourbon
*LONG REVIEW WARNING* I purposefully waited until I received Duke Cannon's Bourbon solid cologne before writing this review, just so I could compare the two - in fact, having never used solid colognes before, I took a chance with the Gambler as the description seemed right up my alley (and it delivered), even though the reviews for the Duke Cannon product made me think it may be just as good, or better. Here's the thing: most people buy something off the internet and convince themselves it's what they really wanted, because they don't wanna waste money and do a side-by-side comparison - but I did. First off, you must realize that the Gambler and Bourbon are targeting the same audience - people who want to give off a warm, inviting scent of bourbon not like a drunk, but like you walked into a rustic tavern that specializes in high-end whiskey, with those planks comprising the floor and craftsmanship oozing off each article. It's about the subtle ambiance that signals you're a hard-working man with a vision who has earned that sipping whiskey at the end of the day, and the warmth of the booze is expediting your leisure activity (which you still execute with finesse). The Gambler will satisfy the above whereas Bourbon will make you smell like someone who just graduated from Axe body spray, by spending about the same amount of $. The Duke Cannon take was everything I *didn't* want in a bourbon-inspired solid cologne, with its pungent, alcoholic, nondescript, semi-suffocating smell reminiscent of cheap department store spray-on cologne - it's for the man without class, dousing himself with an allergy-inducing redolence with the hope of getting lucky at the mainstream club. Outlaw Soaps' Gambler has DEPTH, a warm fragrance of the highest quality bourbon, caramel malt sweetness, strong but well-balanced apricots, and a *hint* of expensive, well-crafted leather, JUST AS ADVERTISED (sans the welcome surprise of the apricots). It's more subtle than Duke Cannon, but I realized that I don't *want* to smell like the over-cologned douchebag in a room with genuine/real people in close quarters - it's more about being a man who smells HELLA good & unique to boot, without bullying another's bubble. A woman worth the trouble will pick up on this. Their customer service was also excellent initially when I expressed interest in buying more of their products (they sent me samples of all their soaps very quickly just so I could make a decision), but when I expressed concern over the negative reviews of another one of their products, I almost got the feeling of being ghosted. However, my mind has been blown by literally every concoction of theirs that I've tried, and that includes the soap sample bundle, the Magic Beard & Hair Elixir, and of course the Gambler - so I'm not too worried in terms of authenticity of scent, performance, and beyond excellent quality from this brand in general. Last but not least, you have to warm up the cologne and apply it before you judge the scent as it *can* remind you of a scented candle - as some reviewers have stated to my erstwhile concern - when you open the tin (although oddly that association, even without warming the solid, seems to pretty much go away after a while once you fall in love, as I did, with the depth and nuances of the scent profile). At the end of the day, I can look past Outlaw Soaps' flaw with oddly and alternatingly enthusiastic then cold customer service (on just one occasion out of several extremely positive ones) - and I can do this because they make it count where it effing matters. No-one else out there comes anywhere close to the richness, complexity, uniqueness, and sheer creativity of their scents - they're *artists,* and it takes one to know one. Lately my body/mind had been naturally craving aromatherapy, and from that perspective, thank God Outlaw Soaps exists. You deserve five stars because you're SOMETHING ELSE altogether - like a temperamental Greek God who's still above and beyond the best human. ... show more

  • Well worth the money:Another notch in my gun.., and other stereotypical phrases.
I am not a gamblin man but if i were i would wager this solid cologne will so join the list of scents i wear that make people linger a smidgen longer than polite society would deem becoming of a lady or gentlemen. I do mind personal ,Polite society and I never saw eye to eye much on anyways I started with the soap, everyone said I smelled like a well groomed gentlemen in their finest, sweet, warm, buttery leather(trust me I know leather well). The kind one wears when saddling up for their occasion trip to town to blow off steam after a long while mending fences. I highly recommend, especially for those like myself who naturally scent doesn't work well at all with anything floral. The burbon is in part representing both the sweet the vanilla adds and the warmth of the tobacco. Outlaw ,I tip my hat to you for bring this fine product to the table. Outstanding work to say the least. I live by my sense of smell and pride myself on reading a description on line and when something comes through on authenticity it never fails to impress. P.S the packaging is simple but well made. Would be good to reuse as a gift box. Update: So I come from a long line of hillbillies and rednecks from the bible belt but was transplanted to California. I do not know the country life but I know my leather and night life. This is an awesome addition to my favorite scents. The staying power ranges to the next shower. I did not think this stuff would be so powerful or last that long. I get a lot of compliments on it. I highly recommend. ... show more

  • This is stuff is awesome
I recently purchased the gambler lotion and liked the scent so much I purchased this solid cologne. I really like this brand allot. It’s a small company and they will literally replace anything you are not happy with, even after you use it. Just terrific customer service! The smell is what cowboys make cowboy songs about (it says this one the box) and they are right. It’s a solid so it doesn’t stay as long as the spray. That’s true for all solids though. This is in a tin small enough to go in your pocket as long it’s not crazy hot outside. Don’t leave it in the car either. It will smell great in your car but it will melt. Also if you want your car to smell like your favorite outlaw scent they actually have car air freshener. Sadly not available on Amazon but you can get them on outlaws site. They have crazy fast shipping like 1-4 day fast. I will continue to buy these great product’s. I can’t say enough good things. Just buy it, seriously you have nothing to loose. I hope this helps someone make an informed decision. ... show more

  • Smells great
It smells like pipe tobacco which brings back memories of my father, he smoked a pipe when I was young. It may not be for everyone. I had it shipped to work and received it today. Out of 30 women here 95% liked the smell, so it seems to be a winner. Packaging is nice, a small drawstring bag containing a Outlaw sticker, the box which houses the tin of cologne and a card that explains they are a small business and their risk free policy. It is definitely giftable and would make a nice stocking stuffer. I can't rate longevity as I only received it today. I hope this helps in making your decision. ... show more

  • Smells symthetic
I’m torn. It’s an interesting scent but it’s has a strange “fake” quality. Kind of like an air freshener rather than cologne. I’m going to return it.
