These have the most adorable black cat face on the toes! I appreciate that the face is sewn into the shoe and not a deal. The 3D ears have a double stitch holding them to the shoe. The heart "nose" seems to be painted gold but it's a raised heart so even if the color rubs off the shape will still remain. I think these shoes are a stylish shoe for everyday wear that could be dressed up or down. The soles have some tread but not a lot. Along the back of the ankle/heel there is a thicker band of support and cushion. The leather shoe is flexible and not rigid. I don't think there's any need to "break the shoe in". They are comfortable right out of the box. My daughter has just grown out of size 13 shoes but I was unsure the sizing so these pictured are a 2. She fits comfortably in them but size 1 (which she is) likely would've fit perfectly. So these are true to size. I will add that as fast as kids grow out of shoes I'm glad she has room to grow so these will fit her longer. They are not huge being a size big, nor do they flop around. Also the clasp has velcro the entire length so it's easy for a kid to put on themselves and can be cinched tighter if needed. Really love these shoes! These are such cute shoes. They look comfortable inside and have some cushion which I wanted since my daughter would be on her feet for a while. Sadly these have to be returned. My grand daughter has just moved into girls size 1, but these are at least one size small. Her toe touched the end. These are very nice quality. I would have entertained getting the larger size, but the price nearly doubled after I purchased, so I went with a different shoe. What I liked most was the sole of the shoe which was substantial and well suited to our slippery rainy winters.
