  • Great Book!
Format: Paperback
This is a great book and sure was helpful as we are new to the camping world. We tried one of the places this weekend and it was a lot like the writer said - you just have to keep in mind that one persons idea of something is different than anothers. Would highly recommend this book! It was so helpful to see the layout of the campground and the ratings on spaciousness, beauty, security, cleanliness and two others were right on. We've been to three of the campgrounds so far and will travel to others he's recommended. The pricing per site needs updated but you can find that information online, as he gives you a website to find out more information. Very well written book! ... show more

  • My favorite camping resource
Format: Paperback
I was a tent camper for years, and this series of books "The Best in Tent Camping" has always been a wonderfully accurate resource in planning a camping trip. I especially enjoy the books Johnny Molloy has written. I use a small travel trailer now, but I still heavily rely on these books. Be warned that this book is not for those who can't live without cable tv, wireless internet, full hook-ups, hot showers, and all the other things that make us spoiled. ... show more

Format: Paperback
Excellent reference book for great camping and wonderful outdoor experiences. Remember that the book is dated, so the information was solid at the time it was written...things change...as does pricing, fees. This book and Molloy's suggestions gave us a memorable August week of camping through Wild and Wonderful West Virginia! ... show more

  • Okay Resource
Format: Paperback
The tag line on this book is what attracted me and enticed me to purchase it: "A guide for car campers who hate RVs, concrete slabs, and loud portable stereos". The information about campgrounds was pretty accurate and has proven to be a useful resource, but the very first campground I chose from the book was nothing but one big RV campground. Loud stereos, campsites lit up like the fourth of July, and the constant hum of running RV were everywhere. I had to search long and hard to find a site that wasn't paved over and graveled over. Most of the spots were not appropriate for tents... which was a bit frustrating. However, I have found the book to be useful in helping me plan a last-minute getaway on my day off. I don't regret buying it, but I certainly hope I have better luck with other campgrounds. ... show more
