This is not the most expensive helm seat but for the cost I found it to be comfortable, strong and easy to install. I've now completed over six thousand miles of ocean sailing aboard my catamaran and it's still in great condition. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Bought these to replace the OEM Todd seats on my 26' Striper. The old seats were getting very loose and the cushions from the old seats were starting to fall apart. I also changed the slide system, not included, on the seats. The seats are very comfortable, stable and well made although the cushions on the seats are not removable, but since I cover the boat when not using this shouldn't be an issue. I might add, the seats, because of the addition of the armrests, are a little wider than the original seats and wide should be a consideration. I would recommend. ... show more

Awesome quality. The seat is pretty heavy too, and very stiff molded plastic, so it doesn't feel like its flexing under my body weight. I am 5'11 and 240lb, so if it holds me, it should suit most others. The arm rests are a tad low for my taste. Unless I am slaunched down in the seat or leaning to one side, my elbows are higher than the rest. I am picky about this feature (For reference, I find those nice wooden porch rocking chairs they sell at Costco to have the same design problem). So that was a disappointment and the sole reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars. Otherwise, I could not ask for a bettter product. The width is adequate adn the back height hits me at about the center of my shoulder blades, so that provides good support too. ... show more

High Quality and looks great. I replaced the helm seat on the bridge of my cabin cruiser with this chair. Very comfortable and ergonomics are great. Had some questions for Tempress about the mounting bolts and they responded immediately.

Just received this Tempress High Back helm seat and installed on our 40' sailing catamaran. The seat arrived well packaged, but the plastic was dirty in multiple places, there were some scratches/gouges, and the right arm is not finished well at all (poor plastic manufacturing). The seat fabric is stitched "ok". We'll see how it wears. It's possible the seat was returned from someone else, but it appeared to be in it's original plastic wrap. 8 bolts were included and appear to have been dipped in red loctite. Bolts all were good and tightened seat appropriately to our Wise seat post. Seat appears comfortable and designed well from an orthopedic perspective. We'll see as we use on longer trips. Very comfortable seats. Padding is thick enough it's almost like having a suspension seat. As others have said, armrests are too low. I ended up taping foam on top, not the most elegant fix. Be great if they included pads for the arm rests!

I purchased one of these and it was exactly what I wanted. Some time later I ordered a second of the exact same one. The second one was NOT a high back. I left it in the box assuming it was identical and did not inspect it until it was too late to return. Beware!!!! Check your order as soon as it arrives. I know, my own fault...
