  • Fun new hobby
After missing the super blue moon a few months ago I decided to finally purchase a telescope. This telescope technically falls under the entry level telescope category but I’m very impressed with it. Definitely a good price for the quality. Unfortunately the skies aren’t super clear right now but at the end of the month (December 2023) we’re expecting a full moon which I can’t wait to capture. I’ll upload a photo if I’m able to view it from my house. Star gazing is surprisingly fun. The assembly video and manual are actually very helpful. No tools necessary you’re able to tighten all the screws and attach all parts with simply your hands. I would recommend purchasing additional color lens for fun. I was having trouble with the cellphone attachment. Make sure you follow the manual and insert the lens “eyepiece” into the attachment! I thought the attachment had a magnifier but you still need to use an eyepiece or “magnifier.” There’s definitely a learning curve. Patience is important when you have no idea what you’re doing. Just have fun! Both control cables (ascension and declination axis) are extremely helpful. Remember the finder scope is your best friend! Lastly the only thing I would improve would be a taller tripod. When you spend hours searching for stars a taller tripod would be more comfortable. I’m going to purchase a camping chair for more personal comfort. ... show more

  • Exactly what we wanted
It arrived well packed and undamaged. Husband put it together in less that 20 minutes, while I offered totally useless advice. The word 'thingie' was applied more than once. The instructions and diagrams are fairly clear, although not copious. We are absolute beginners at this. (I remember looking through a neighbor's telescope when I was 7, back in the dark ages when telescopes were made from tree bark and mica.) But with a minimum amount of fiddling about, we were able to see the moon in dramatic detail! I couldn't stop saying "wow"! The cellphone attachment took a bit more time, but we did get it on and working. If a couple of senior citizen Newbies can get a clear view of the moon within a half an hour or so, younger folks shouldn't have any problem. Or even smarter old folks, for that matter. We're super excited to learn more and see other interesting things. (And I'm still using the term 'thingie' to describe just about everything on the telescope.) ... show more

  • Great entry level scope, worth the price!
After doing a lot of research, trying to decide on the perfect telescope for my teenage son, Who has lately shown a lot of interest in astronomy .. I have found that with telescopes, the aperture size matters much more than magnification. The bigger the aperture, the better the image will be. This is a 70mm aperture (2.75 inches), which is about as small as you can get. Very typical for an "entry-level" telescope, I found this model to be perfect for my Son who is just beginning to get into this hobby if you want to get into stargazing without dropping 500 bucks or more on a bigger scope this is the model for you. My son is 5‘3“ and it’s a comfortable height for him, Also, I find it to be very durable, tripod is strong and sturdy.. it was also very quick and easy to set up, we were using it five minutes, after removing it from the box .. it has a very professional look and feel to it.. Great viewing experience overall! The phone adapter fits his iPhone 11 securely and perfectly It came in a beautiful plain white box, perfect for gifting. It was actually a double surprise after opening the wrapping paper, and then having to open the box as well.. very happy with this purchase, totally worth the money! ... show more

  • Great product, iffy phone guides
I think if I squint hard enough I can make out that the tree is green. Using an iPhone 13 Pro Max and can not for the life of me get this thing to work. I see videos of people just slapping it on and bam it’s fully scoped in with no tunnel view but I can’t get to be like that unless I like x9 zoom but then it’s just a blur. There’s really not much info on how to guide me with this anywhere online. The telescope itself is really nice just would like to be able to take a picture ... show more

  • Great Christmas Gift - Great Packaging
Bought this for my nephew for Christmas so I haven’t put it together yet but I did take it out of the box to look at it and it looks amazing and I’m so excited for him to open it. It feels high quality and I read through the instructions and assembly seems pretty simple. Update: My nephew opened it and freaking LOVED it! He went on and on about how heavy/thick it was. He’s setting up this weekend so I’ll be sure to post another update to see what he thinks, as far as viewing goes. Rain in the forecast all weekend but maybe we’ll get lucky. ... show more

  • Tripod
The quality of the scope is great for a beginner, unfortunately the inserts on the tripod are very disappointing, cracking and backed out on the first few uses as I adjusted height. I use rubber bands on the tripod legs temporarily as I search for a new tripod.
