Checked out a few reviews before purchasing. & they sold me on it. Package arrived. Tried it out and.... 1) doesn’t give you the nostalgic memory of the original red lace licorice 2) the taste has an artificial “strawberry” flavor, the sweeter side of a cough syrup 3) the texture is more gummy than waxy like the original red shoe-string licorice back in the day from the corner store. Wouldn’t order again. It does have the length but not the texture, flavor, or color. Hope this helps! ... show more

    • Great texture and taste. Nothing like the plastic tasting, hard texture licorice of other brands.
Just like I remember as a kid way back when! The only problem I have with them is over consumption and some toileting/gas issues when I eat too much in one sitting. Fun to twirl around the fingers and sooooo delicious! There is no fat in them either. The packaging is fancy enough for gifting or as a yummy stocking stuffer at holiday time. ... show more

Usually purchase Haribo, but couldn’t find them at a reasonable price (or size - what is one to do with 5 pounds of strawberry laces, anyhow?!) and so opted to chance these. Tasty is an understatement- despite my best efforts to bury them at the back of the snack cabinet, they were discovered by my husband and disappeared before week’s end. 😫 Need to reorder. ... show more

Arrives quickly , fresh and tastes the most similar as old Red laces and Rolls.... please get this back in stock because whenever I try to find another seller I get fake horrible tasting licorice ...     • Childhood Licorice Laces
I have been looking in candy stores for red licorice. Many I have found have been too soft and no taste or too hard and no taste. This licorice is the perfect texture of soft/firm. I feel like Goldie Locks because it is just right. It is not overly sweet but just right to wrap around my hand or fingers and chew while I am working. I brought one bad and in one shift my co-workers emptied by bag. They all raved how this was the best licorice and reminded them of childhood licorice they (we are were) raised on. I had to buy a second bag and hide it at work. The length of the licorices are not short. They are pretty long and one lace will give you a good chew. I am so bummed :( - I love red laces and unfortunately these did not taste good to me. They weren’t stale or anything, I just felt like there was an acidic taste to it, which may have come from red die? Not sure, but unfortunately I will not be buying them again.     • Not at all like the strings you used to get as a kid
If you are looking for the harder, less flavorful version you had as a kid, these don’t taste the same at all. So I can understand being disappointed if that’s what you’re hoping for. But it’s different in the sense that it’s a higher quality than what you used to get at the drug store. This has a more pronounced flavor profile and isn’t as hard. I had a craving for red laces so ordered a bag for the first time. I have to say, the product exceeded my expectations. There's a touch of tartness, making them more flavorful than the sometimes waxy red laces I've usually had. Will definitely buy again.
