I used both of these strap wrenches on three, fused optical spacers for my telescope. When setting up a telescope rig for astrophotography, the camera sensor has to be a specific distance from the back lens of the telescope to establish focus. The distance (back focus) is achieved by installing tubular spacers between components until the distance adds up to the prescribed measurement—in most cases, 55mm. When you swap a component, such as a filter drawer for a filter wheel, sometimes you have to change the spacing. This was my circumstance. Three of my spacers were fused together. I had tried detaching them with lots of effort using rubber gloves and one other strap wrench—the kind you have to hold the strap as you grip the handle. No effort or arrangement worked. I ordered this kit because the straps lock and it's a pair with two sizes. When using two wrenches, your mechanical advantage/leverage is increased significantly. Within five minutes of opening the package, I was able to separate one ring from two, then the two from each other. It was like magic. From now on, I will apply a little beeswax on the threads as I install spacers between my telescope, filter wheel, camera, etc. These are excellent tools—a great pair—strong and effective. The product works well, but the little tabs that let you adjust the strap length are annoying. Also the straps needed to be a little longer. For larger diameter jars the straps are barely long enough to grab and tighten prior to twisting the lid off. Works well for medium to small jars, a bit more complicated for larger diameter pickle jars. Overall they work but it takes a little patience. ... show more

    • Works great on PVC fittings for spa plumbing!
I was replacing a circulation pump on my hot tub, and the PVC coupling was absolutely stuck. I could not hand-unscrew it. Also the connection was in a tight space. I needed an adjustable wrench that could go around the fitting without having to be slipped over the end, as there was no end to slip over. This tool worked perfectly! I was able to easily unscrew the fitting without any damage or difficulty. I also used it a few days later to unscrew a corroded mason jar lid, and it worked very easily on that as well. These strap wrenches are worthless. The straps stretch so much, it is impossible to get enough grip to turn anything.

I needed the big wrench to help fully tighten the lid on a big mouth bubbler beer fermenter so it would not leak. (and then to be able to easily get it opened again.) The bigger wrench worked like a champ for that. The smaller one has made it easy to remove the oil filter on a lawn mower and a car engine that just did not work well with a standard filter wrench. Have not had a ton of uses so can't speak to longevity, but am very satisfied with these so far. ... show more

I had a bathroom faucet handle that could not be removed. I was ready to get some pliers and damage it to remove it but saw mention of a strap wrench.
