My nephew just turned 4y/o and he wants to be a paleontologist. Of all the 20+ dinosaur gifts he received for his bday, this remote control t-rex was his favorite. As soon as the t-rex started moving, it caught everyone's attention. The best part was the steam coming out of its mouth. quite the showstopper. I saw the video of this dinosaur on Pinterest and cross referenced over to Amazon. Ordered it for a 3 yr old great-great nephew's birthday which had a T-Rex theme at a venue. I am told my nephew loved it! I tested it first... it is rechargable by the enclosed cord; batteries went into the remote control box only. Also, with added water behind its head... it will spray a fine mist of water when it opens it's mouth (which lights up on the inside), and roars. Great gift...worth the money I paid. Arrived promptly and was well packaged.

My son came across this dinosaur in the app and was obsessed with the videos, which admittedly looked really cool. I finally bought him one for a family gift exchange. Once I put it together, he was incredibly excited and happy, and for those first few hours, it did work pretty well! The most annoying thing at the time is that is was incredibly loud. The roars were earsplittingly loud, and this is coming from someone who spent my early days in clubs seeing Dinosaur Jr and Mogwai. The next day however, the legs started making this horrible grinding noise and the dinosaur could no longer walk forward. It felt like something was broken inside, because even moving the legs manually it would make a crunching sound. Of course, he was crushed but I promised to get him a new one. We returned the first one and Amazon sent a replacement. This one worked for about 5 days until the exact same thing happened. We were not aggressively playing with the toy. He was not throwing it around and playing roughly with it. In fact, even though it moved by touching it's back, we insisted he use the controller, assuming maybe pressing on it might have broke the first one. Sadly, this is just another example of poor toy craftsmanship by fly by night companies all vying to make the cheapest knock-off's of each others products. It's a shame Amazon can't do a better job of vetting their products and instead I've got a disappointed child and $40 less dollars in my pocket.
