    • Really easy to use
So I used this to set the gains of my Alpine 5 channel amp. This thing works great but what's great is that they give you a CD of test tones with varying levels of gain overlap. If you set gain to the optimum level equally across all your channels like most people do, then you will be generally happy with the sound after you further 'tune-in' your system in. I did that and then proceeded to adjust the levels and EQ on my HU (head unit). The problem is my component mid woofer fires into my lower leg, the tweeters are in the dash and the subwoofer is behind the rear seats. When you set all the gains the same, you inevitably ended up adjusting the subwoofer and equalization every time a new song comes on. So I experimented with the gain settings using a little more gain overlap with the mid woofer and even a bit more for the sub. The tweeters remain set to the initial (cleanest possible) gain setting. Guess what? HUGE IMPROVEMENT! I now run my HU's EQ completely flat. I no longer need to adjust the subwoofer bass knob for every song...I even have the sub boost on the amp at zero/flat…but most importantly, the mid woofer blends beautifully with the tweeter. On songs with very little bass content, I get a nice sub-bass ‘fill’…on songs with heavy bass, I get bodacious bass that’s never peaky or boomy. On everything else, it’s perfection. This was worth the cost of entry for me and this was my first car audio install. It’s more than just setting gains safely…it’s about exploiting the very best from your system. ... show more

This is a must tool for anyone that installs/adjust amps it's easy to use and practical. You will be able to identify the volume level when distortion is occurring and from that point you can set the amp gains properly. The test tone tracks are included in CD but you can download it from the website, this is safer than using unknown source for test tune. I highly recommend this tool as it protects your investment. ... show more

It is an expensive part for ur system but it’s needed and now people are asking me to tune there amp with it also so i charge them to tune there amp so I’ll make my money back quick

Follow instructions and you'll be all set. I have an LOC before my amps and they detect clipping. Played the 1000hz tone with the DD and without and they started distortion right at the same points. Now, my amps don't have clip lights. Ran the DD to both and I was surprised out how off my ears are-lol. No more coil rubs and now I can go from volume 35 to 44. Sure, it don't bang like clipping do but the subs and speakers will last much longer now. Good substitute for an O-scope as well. ... show more

The product works well and does what it says it claims to but the issue I have is the buttons don’t always work. It feels very cheap and you can tell when operating the device. It takes a few times pushing the buttons to get it to turn off and on. I have my doubts as to how long it will last. I am very disappointed considering how much this item costs. ... show more
