The Starfire WR All-Season 235/45R17 94W Tire is a high performance tire for drivers who want maximum performance for a great value. Built with an asymmetrical tread design, the WR is made to have good grip and a more comfortable and quiet ride. The tire features shoulder blocks that are designed to enhance the braking capacity and steering response to ensure safety. The advanced 5-rib asymmetric tread pattern provides sustained tire performance with even tread wear, less noise and increased overall tread life. The four wide circumferential grooves provide superior hydroplanning resistance. It is also a true all-season high performance tire, so it is acceptable for light snow and winter road conditions. The Starfire WR tire is suitable for passenger vehicles, sedans, and smaller SUVs.

Ok, so my Mazda 3 came with Dunlop SP Sport 5000 P215/45R18s and those tires get lots of hate from Mazda owners. I would rate them average on ride, noise and dry pavement. Not so great in heavy rain and light snow. Was looking for a replacement tire. Since the Dunlops were $250+ each I looked at some alternatives. The General G-Max AS-05 and Toyo PXAS seemed like good options. Discovered the Starfire tire in my search and based on reviews they seemed to be a quality tire (at a cost of less than half the Dunlops). So far they seem at least the equivalent of the OEM Dunlops with better wet traction and about the same observed MPG. Hopefully better in snow... but will have to wait for that test. Just some history on the Starfire band. It is manufactured by Cooper tires (which was acquired by Goodyear in 2021). The tires I received have a good manufacture date of 2622 (week/year - about 2 months old). I was however disappointed to see they were manufactured in China and why I deducted a star. ... show more

All I know is I needed 2 new tires and these sure looked nice in the photos and at $94 ea. I got them, 2 days on my doorstep and they looked even nicer in front of me, installed they look great, to top it off they ride very smooth (smoother than the previous Michelin’s handling well where the previous tires would squeal a little around certain turns these don’t not even at 1.5 times the speed they SEEM to have a little bit wider tread to road contact than the others like all 9.2” are on the road without sloping up another thing I noticed was they stay clean for some reason while the back 2 tend to get dustier and the starfires look new without washing them ha idk whatever I know what’s going on the rear here shortly :) ... show more
