I have to split this review into two parts. First the story. The story is fantastic!! 10/10 easily. I thoroughly enjoyed playing the story and I appreciated its connections to existing Star Trek lore (with plenty of Easter Eggs and even a pretty important cameo or two). I think it is a must-play for any Star Trek: The Next Generation fan. However, then comes the gameplay. It does feel like it could have used a bit more time in development at times. I played the game on Xbox One X, and occasionally the frame rate (FPS) dropped HARD and the game would stutter or lag at random intervals. It was developed by a small team comprised of largely former Telltale Games employees, so I will cut them some slack. As long as you set your expectations reasonably, or if you are playing on a Series X or PS5, I think you will have a great time. ... show more

Great concept, loved seeing the callout to a fascinating TNG concept. Loved the interactivity and capacity to affect the flow of the story. I didn't get the bugs others are reporting other than the occasional cut out of dialogue. Graphics got better as game progressed. Loved playing multiple characters. Didn't give it 5 stars primarily because some character tasks were kinda strange, the occasional dropped dialogue. Some story elements were less believable given my knowledge of StarFleet (don't want to spoil anything). I really enjoyed this game, want a sequel already 🖖🏽 ... show more

The story is fun and stays true to what trek is. It's refreshing to have a trek reminiscent of the 90s. But... The fps is really bad. It lags. The graphics are not high quality and reminiscent of 360 games. And that's fine. This was done by an independent studio and was not meant to win the graphics award. The mechanics are OK. But what takes away from enjoying the game is the poor fps every few mins when there really shouldn't be with this kind of game. Also it states that you have pre-order bonus material. No inserts were in my copy nor is there anything listen in my order details on how to access that. ... show more

I could only recommend this for big Trek fans. The writing is good and fan service is delivered throughout, but the controls are awful, audio cracks and stutters endlessly, and the frame rate drops constantly. Wait for a sale or avoid all together.

If You are a Trecky, you’re going to want this game for sure. Even if you are just a sci-fi fan or a fan of space based games, I would recommend it.
