  • A great prepping item! Water is life saving A great prepping item! Water is life saving
Style: water barrel
My wife surprised me with this, and when i looked at the box i said no way; was I wrong! I opened the box and looked at the sections. They were made with a PBA free plastic, sturdy, and the gasket for the sections were a good quality silicone material. Not much to the instruction manual, but really it was not necessary. I put the sections together and started torquing the screws. (set the drill so it gives so you don't over torque and strip) All sections went together easily, and it only took minutes to assemble. I then got the drain valve and checked it out; it was plastic but functional. I would prefer a metal type myself to attach a hose. I did not see any plumbers tape but have plenty on hand. After complete assembly, i took it outside to fill up for a leak test and valve check. Note, it was 95 degrees when i tested. After filling, i examined every seem, and where the valve was attached..........no leaks. I left it in the sun for 3 hours to see if anything failed, but nothing did. The next thing was thinking, how was i going to use it; and then it came to me! I have a shop kitchen with a ICB full of water for cooking and drinking next to the sink. We learned how important it was to have a backup plan during Helene, as we used most of our gas running the generator. another day or two and we would have been out. The lines at the gas station that was open was only 3 miles long, with people yelling, cussing, and even guns drawn on others. (all this info was gathered from friends who were in the line) Anyway, we wanted to avoid all of this by having plenty of water on hand for cooking, cleaning, and sanitation! So where did I put it? on the ICB tote with the valve facing toward the sink to wash dishes, and clean hands! again, sanitation is second to having drinking water. The 50-gallon barrel will give you lots of washing water for dishes and body parts while saving the cooking and drinking water for its intended purpose. I really like the idea of having a barrel in a compact box as a backup. in storage it won't take up much room. If you had to bug out, throw the box in the vehicle, and you haven't lost much space. It comes with the tools to put it together. Pros: it works, no leaks, easy to assemble. Can be used for drinking water Cons: Would prefer a metal valve for garden hose attachment, but the one sent works great. add a small roll of plumbers tape, as some folks may not have it on hand. I did add a valve i had to add a piece of hose. ... show more

  • Get a one piece barrel. Skip this one. Screws strip and it leaks
Style: water barrel
Using less torque than they recommend, 2 of the screws stripped and I now have a 25 gallon barrel instead of 50. I would recommend you buy a one piece barrel, and skip this one. The center seam that is screwed from the outside is where 2 screws not only stripped on a drill setting of 9, but the screws went all the way through without getting tight. So I can only fill it up halfway. Which is why I gave it 1 star. ... show more

  • Easy install, peace of mind water Easy install, peace of mind water

Easy to put together and nothing stripped. Just go slow with your torque. Living in Florida, having drinkable and usable water for emergencies is a must. This will come in good use!

  • Good clean storage of water.
Style: water barrel
A sturdy BPA-free water storage barrel. Note: too much tightening of the screws when assembling it can cause leaks.

  • A must have for backup drinking water.
Style: water barrel
I have be been looking for a good food grade water storage system. It’s important to have a potable water container for emergencies, like power outages, hurricanes etc. I will also use to transport well water from our mountain home to use instead of buying bottled water.

  • Don't work

It leaks. Who came up this idiotic idea of holding 50 gal water with sectioned barrel?
