I was very disappointed with the current version of the Sperry Striper, so I thought I would try the Halyard based on the mostly positive reviews and from trying on a pair at a local store. Unfortunately, like with the Striper, Sperry has cheapened and modified this shoe as well. The insole is just a thin flat layer of memory foam. The sole has better tread than the striper but both new models have zero support and you end up feeling everything you step on and end the day. Completely exhausted and wanting to wear some actually comfortable shoes. I can easily see the toe box getting holes in no time due to the thin canvas and the laces breaking sooner than later. If you have flat feet and are used to flip flops maybe these are the shoes for you but for me they are very uncomfortable and are nothing like the quality of the exact same shoes made even 10 years ago by Sperry. ... show more

I ordered the 11 W size, but it was still too narrow for my feet. Just beware if you have wide feet that the wide size is still on the narrow side. You may want to spend your time trying a different pair of shoes. The quality and craftsmanship look good, though, as I expected, hence the three stars. Update: I ordered a size larger from the Sperry website, and that made all the difference. While the length of the 11 W is right for me, the 12 W is passable and has a very comfortable width. The shoes also vary, so you may need to try on multiple ones before getting the right size. I discovered after this order that there is a Sperry store near me, so I went and tried some on. They did not have the 12 W in the color I wanted, though, so that is why I had to order them. ... show more

I got these to replace a pair that was a bit larger and they squeaked when I walk.. This pair does too. I'm not sure if that's a selling point for Sperry or not, but it's not that bad. The fit and feel is great though. Walking on mice.
