Description

Empowering adventure since 1935, the Authentic Original has become an icon of seaworthy style. With genuine leather materials hand sewn for durability, a signature 360° lacing system for a secure fit, and Wave-Siping™ for ultimate wet/dry traction, these classics are just as purpose-built now as they were back then. In 1935 Paul Sperry invented the world's first and most enduring boat shoe. Where all other footwear brand have laid claim to every inch of terra firma, from the highest snowcapped peaks to the lowest desert valley, from baseball diamonds to basketball courts, Sperry Top-Sider has flourished by helping all who love the water master the world's final frontier -- the oceans, lakes and streams of Planet Earth.

  • The Mighty Have Fallen
Size: 9.5 Color: Sahara
I have been wearing Sperry A/Os for probably 15 years now. My previous pair lasted me 7 years and treated me very well but I had to trash them as the soles of the shoe completely fell apart. Although the leather was perfectly suitable to be resoled, Sperry doesn't offer their soles to resole boat shoes, which is painful and disheartening as the leather after 7 years was incredibly well formed and broken into my feet, super comfortable. I bought a new pair here and wow these are not the same shoe that I loved and used for nearly a decade. The sizing is off, I ordered a size smaller than my last pair but these somehow feel bigger than my last. The leather quality is completely awful compared to before. The coloring of the Sahara is totally different, way lighter and much less flattering than even the images on here. They wholly feel like a cheap overstock shoe from Marshalls or TJ Maxx. I'll be returning these. It's a sad day to see such an icon of Americana fall so far and so suddenly, especially when its the original boat shoe. I'll have to take my business elsewhere for the quality I crave from what Sperry used to be. ... show more

  • Love these deck shoes!
Size: 10 Wide Color: Sahara
Not having worn topsider-style shoes since the 80s, I was prepared to be disappointed by these, especially after reading some of the reviews saying the Sperry quality had slipped. On the contrary, these shoes looked awesome right out of the box and were nicely packaged. I ordered a half size down, like I saw suggested on the Sperry website (since you typically these wear barefoot and they are supposed to stretch some). I'm actually wearing them right now, after just opening them less than an hour ago. They fit great with a thin no-show sock. I also selected the wide size, then was confused when the cart showed 10 M. 10 W is what arrived, so they got it right. Only small quibble is that the Sahara color is lighter than the image on Amazon. Still, I think they look sweet and feel great so far! ... show more

  • The mighty have not fallen as far as I'm concerned.
Size: 10.5 Wide Color: Sahara
I bought these with no prior experience with the Sperry brand, and without reading all the reviews about how their quality has supposedly deteriorated. Well, I've been wearing the heck out of them for over 5 months, nearly every day since the weather got warm and I had to start working from home. They were a bit tight when new but stretched and now fit perfectly, a half size less than what I might ordinarily buy. I've put many miles on them on rough pavement and it's pretty clear that the soles, though durable, will wear down long before any part of the uppers show any noticeable wear. If I just wore them around the house and on vacations and trips to the beach, which may happen if I ever get back to my office on a regular basis, it's clear they would last many years. Sahara is lighter than appears on the photo, as another reviewer has said. But I like these so much, and paid a lot less for them than they are selling for on amazon now, that I may take it easy on them to get more years of use. Very good quality as far as I'm concerned. Edit: I don't mean to diss the expert sailors who are giving these shoes bad reviews here due to their lack of durability. These are boat shoes for passengers, not crew. If you want handmade in USA boat shoes, Sperry still sells them -- for $375. Rancourt does too, for $250. ... show more

  • Shoes falling apart after a month!
Size: 9 Color: Tan
My son has worn these for 23 days at school (winter uniform started in mid Oct) and they have already fallen apart. This is absolutely unacceptable considering how much the shoes were, and he's not even hard on this shoes usually! I never want to purchase Sperry's again, I am extremely disappointed.

  • Third Pair's A Charm
Size: 10.5 Wide Color: Sahara
This is my third pair of Sperry's - purchased right at the beginning of the pandemic and lasted me a good two years. These are one of the few boat shoes you can purchase in extra-wide (XW). The shoe fits well and has casual trendy look to it. The hand crafted leather does well in extreme rain or hot weathers. I've used these to cross rivers, trek sand dunes and even hike mountains. To make it last longer I used leather conditioner every month to replenish the grains of the leather. I also would wash the insert soles regularly to eradicate any sweat buildup. The Sahara color was just as I expected. ... show more

  • 32 years and still work great
Size: 10.5 Color: Sahara
I bought these identical shoes 32 years ago in San Diego, CA. They are just as comfortable then as they are now. The pictures show quite the wear, but notice that the leather seams are intact, the tread is still on (albeit with holes in the bottom) and the laces are not broken. I've played soccer in these shoes (pro tip: don't do this), traveled abroad (easy on/off at airport security), lounged at home and --yes-- been on sailboats with them. Expensive? Yes. Worth every penny? Absolutely. Get off your dime and get the real Sperry Topsider. Anything else is a cheap substitute. (Note: the pictures are not what I bought recently on Amazon. They are pictures of the shoes before Amazon was invented.) ... show more

  • Top-Siders...Still a Great Shoe
Size: 12 Wide Color: Classic Brown
I've worn Top-Siders for years as a casual shoe around the beach, pool, and anywhere in the summer. I was a bit concerned with some of the reviews suggesting the quality had gone down, but decided to replace my almost ten year old top-siders anyway. I was not disappointed at all...the shoes still have the same great quality and comfortable fit right out of the box. While the price has inched up a bit since my last pair I still find them to be an exceptional value. I make a point of applying a thorough coat of clear wax to seal the leather...especially working the wax into the seam between the uppers and sole...it seems to make them last longer. Sizes are spot on...although I never wear socks with these shoes I guess you could, but might need to adjust the size accordingly. Hopefully these will last ten years as well. My highest recommendation. ... show more
