A few reviews said they are cheap.They are not cheap! Sperry has a newer high end “ gold cup”, maybe that’s what they were expecting? These are the plain Jane original boat shoe! They have improved with a newer material(EVA, I believe) for the heelcup! Makes them more comfortable! Other than that they’re just like the ones from the 70s and 80s I used to get all the time! I’ve worn for three weeks now. They are durable! No, stitching, coming undone ! Or rubber soles ripping! The real leather is stretching, and the shoe is becoming more and more comfortable with wear! I’m writing this review because I was hesitant on ordering these with the other bad reviews! The pair of” Sperry Men's Authentic Original Plushwave Boat Shoe” I receive have been fantastic! Will be buying again in the future! When these wear out!

Update 9/28 I have been walking about a mile every day for a month on dirt trails and pebbly sand roads with daily abuse; no wear. I did apply shoe glue on the gap on around the bottom of the shoe... I am not sure if that makes a difference. I have not been kind to these shoes. Since I mostly only wear mocasins, I find these outside mocasins extremely cofortable. I like them. My guess is if the front of your shoe, that sticks out a bit, gets caught under anything; the shoe toe will fail. I have another "sale pair of Boat shoes. I have not worn them "yet" just to see if how the shoe fails. I am surpriesed that Sperry does not reply to the shoe failures seeing that they all have the same problem and most all 1/2 feedbacks have pictures. Getting a refund on these shoes would be impossible. Even from long time customers expericing these failures First Review The shoes are on sale and are exactly what I wear throught-out the year. However, several 2023 reviews show, with pictures, the soles coming apart within a month, I carefully inspected them. They look perfect and feel comfortable. So I will wait. I have shoe glues to fix them if they do start showing signs of falling apart. Hopefully this is an isolated problem. I will add to this review if the shoe develops problem.

If you are thinking of purchasing a pair of Sperry Top Siders, you should go right ahead. The only thing is deciding where to purchase the Sperrys from. I purchased a pair of Sperries in 2020 from Amazon. Those were excellent - and I still wear them today. I purchased my next pair of Sperries in 2021 from Zappos - those were not so great. The soles feel different on the ones purchased on Zappos. So I decided to buy my third pair from Amazon again. They are just as advertised. They have the classic soles and the classic fit of the Sperries that I know and love. For reference, these are actually my 10th pair dating back over 10 years. If you need sizing guidance, I would go true to size. Especially if you have wide feet. If you want to wear Sperries with socks, definitely go true to size. I'm not a style snob - I just love wearing Sperries, even in the winter. Or sometimes I am running a quick errand, and I can pop into my Sperries with the socks I already have on. Plus true to size is a much more comfortable, breathable fit than going a half size down like some people might suggest. For me, a Sperry Top Sider is the ultimate comfort shoe. More than a running shoe, more than birks, more than slippers, more than sandals. I wear Sperries so frequently and that's because I really love everything about it from the style, to the feel, to the comfort, to the low profile, to the versatility

I love these shoes -- I've owned many pair over several decades. There is just one small problem: the leather laces they come with are always too short. Every time I buy a pair I have to take them to a shoe repair to have the laces replaced with longer laces. This is because I have to double-knot them so that the knot doesn't come undone, which it invariably does if I don't double-know them.

First purchasing shoes like this but am happy with the purchase. They don't feel like any breaking in is necessary. Purchased my size 11.5 and they fit perfectly. The light brown one came with some scuff Mark's which gave them a rugged look that I love. Am somewhat disappointed with the lack of scuffing on the dark brown one which makes it looks very formal but I guess with time they will get the distressed look am looking for. The comfort I will determine after wearing them a few times. Am updating this review. Wore one on the weekend for the first and being in them for 12 hours was so comfortable. Plus got a lot of compliments.

My foot measures, from a shoe store's authentic foot measuring device, as 11.5 Wide. Something isn't working with the other. But it's labeled as an 11.5 wide, yet they're Not even close, Have you heard about shoe standardizing...?
