Cheap telescopes have come a ways in the last 20 years. The tripod with this one is fantastic, it's telescoping aluminum. The telescopes itself is decent enough. I was able to resolve Ganymede tonight with it, but I can't seem to see anything with the 3x barlow, maybe I'm using it wrong.

When there is a clear night without clouds the telescope works great. I haven't used a telescope since I was a kid so in many ways I am a beginner. But this scope works well for beginners.

This telescope is perfect for beginners. It was easy to assemble and use. We had a great time looking at the moon but my experience level kind of stops there. I’m looking into an attachment so I can take pictures. Overall, I am enjoying messing around with the telescope.

I have had a few cheap telescopes, and this is one of the better ones. It feels more stable and has good magnification. However, they give you a terrible manual and a phone accessory that does not work with the product. Yet I was truly impressed with their means of packaging the product. This is my first set of telescopes, I just started to learn about star gazing. This telescope set is well packed, it has a 70mm aperture 400 mm focal length telescope, 10mm and 20mm eye pieces, 3x barlow lens, view finder scope, smart phone adaptor, remote control, accessory bag, and 50” tripod with accessory tray, all nest neatly in a nice snug fitting carrying bag. Before you begin, you need to adjust the view finder scope, and I had a hard time setting the proper angle. The adjusting screw kept moving the view finder scope when I’m tightening them down, but eventually I had it set the way it supposed to be for you to target the object that you are looking at before using the telescope. Also, the image through the finder scope is upside down. Initially, as a beginner, I thought that I did something wrong or the scope is defective, but it’s just the way is supposed to be, and it makes it harder for me to pinpoint the target. The image seen through the telescope is not as bright or sharp as my 10x42 binocular, so I was a little disappointed. I also have a hard time viewing and focusing using the combination of eye piece and 3x barlow lens, but that could also be that I am inexperienced using the telescope. I’m used to looking with binoculars standing upright, so with its 50” tripod, bending over to view the scope take a little effort, I wish the tripod is higher. Overall, I do enjoy learning with this telescope. It has all that you need to start, light weight, portable, and about average in pricing compared with the sets on Amazon, it’s a nice starter set to learn with. ... show more
