The telescope is cheap. It's a great beginner one to start off with. The small side scope makes everything upside down so it has a lens messed up I guess. I have it away. I was able to take a few pics with the moon.

As far as image goes, this is quite large! It doesn't have any assists besides the spotter to help direct the telescope, but beginners don't need them anyway. The moon and the night sky look great! I wish it had a storage case and a parts storage bag. The telescope is fairly intuitive to setup. I'm not sure if there are directions, but this one came with none. The telescope has Youtube channel videos that demonstrate everything. The only thing it didn't explain is that the rubber eyepiece has to be removed to put on the bracket to hold your phone in place for pictures. The pictures turned out large and clear. ... show more

Let's get this out of the way first. I have a DSLR camera and a small collection of lenses. The least expensive new lens for that one is more than double the price of this kit, so we're definitely not talking professional grade optics here. Nor is it meant to be. Taken in that context, this is a Nice Cross-Over Piece. What I mean by that is it's definitely not a toy, but more an entry level telescope for a budding hobbyist or perhaps an adolescent that's too old for toys, but not really. You know... cross-over age. As it's still too cold and yuck outside for a proper testing, this is just preliminary observations. The optics seem perfectly fine for what they are. If my opinion changes after an outing or two, I'll update, but it doesn't look like the glass will cause any issues. I also haven't tried the remote shutter release for the included phone adapter yet as my phone is already pretty cluttered and my grand kids are going to be the ultimate recipients. That's pretty well established tech... most smart watches have that function so I don't foresee any issues; again I'll update if necessary. Bottom line: A nice, complete kit that would be a good way to get your feet wet without having to spend a fortune, or a way of getting better pics of the moon than just hand-holding your phone... especially of a lunar eclipse which is too dark for a good exposure at hand-held shutter speeds. Or just something fun to bring along on a camping trip. It comes with a carry bag and doesn't take a lot of space. ... show more
