This really is the BEST desk EVER!!! It came beautifully and intricately packaged. All the parts were there, even all of the small screws, pegs, etc. The instructions are VERY clear and easy to follow. You can tell that a lot of care was put into writing the directions (complete with pictures of every piece used and of every step). These are not some "made in China" directions that are in a million other languages, apart from English. This might be a pressed-wood, DIY construction item, but it looks like a showroom-quality piece! I like assembling furniture, so I found putting the desk together fun; like Legos. The whole piece is connected with those metal disks and metal pegs. Not sure of the correct terminology, but anyone who's put furniture together will know what I mean. The metal disks set into pre-drilled holes then a peg is placed in another smaller whole in a corresponding piece. The two are fitted together and the metal disk is screwed into place to tighten the bond. Oh, and the doors are held closed by magnets. Very nice touch. The whole piece in general was very well designed and thought out. If I could design a desk for myself, it would be THIS desk! There were no damages to any of the pieces. The doors did come with the decorative grooves intact. The hardware is not cheap looking or flimsy. The middle drawer, on the metal gliders, is so smooth and sturdy and glides quietly. The actual desk surface is HUGE!!! I big upgrade for me. It's great for spreading out work/homework papers next to your laptop or even spreading out an entire craft project. The height is perfect for standing at or sitting at and the leg room underneath is massive. I can really stretch my legs out. I could never do that before. The finish is also very pretty. It a matte/shiny finish. It may be a large desk for my space, but it doesn't overpower the room with its presence. It's large, but petite and contained. You will be blown away with all that you can fit onto all of the shelves and into all of the cubby spaces. I bought this desk because It's like a desk and bookcase in one! I had a large vanity with 4 deep drawers. I never thought I'd find a desk that could hold everything that vanity did. However, this desk was perfect and can hold even more. I have room to spare. None of my belongings are crammed in either. I'm a bit of a neat freak so it's nice to have a place for everything and everything in its place. I fell in love with the look and functionality of this desk from the moment I saw it on Amazon. I read the only review (at the time) about the doors missing the decorative grooves. I totally ignored that review because it was said that the company did send the replacement doors. That shows great integrity from a company. I knew I wouldn't have any problems. I did have a little hiccup with my original order, to where I had to refuse delivery based on the package being compromised. But South Shore has been there for me every step of the way. They have very professional, understanding representatives that have been very prompt with emailing me and on top of my order and the replacement. It was their wonderful customer service that sold me on getting a dresser manufactured by them as well. South Shore has a winning system: a great support staff, an innovative, ingenious and practical design team, and a fantastic crew who lovingly constructs all of the pieces and expertly packages all of the parts. And most of all, they stand behind their products and truly care about their customers.     • A great table/desk/workspace for multi-taskers

The South Shore Artwork Craft Table with Storage is great! I purchased this for my 10 & 12 year old daughters. It will be their sewing, scrap booking, crafting, computer, and home working space! We live in a tiny house and this will be a very functional, versatile piece of furniture for us. Assembling it by myself took me ~4 hours (coffee breaks included). The box arrived damaged and I was concerned about opening it and then having to repack it for return shipping. The outside of the box is very clearly labeled with a phone number which to call; so I did. I explained my concerns about opening the box given the exterior damage and was reassured any damaged pieces would be sent to me if required. I carefully inspected every piece and not one lick of damage nor a scratch to be found. All necessary hardware was accounted for and present. Directions were fairly straight forward. I took liberty when it came to drawer installation onto the main piece of the table as I was concerned about the drawer being flush when closed (I did the second part first, the first part second AFTER placing the table top and securing it). This worked out fine for me. I will say, a drill WAS ultimately required for securing not only the drawer, but also the doors. The worst part of the entire process was when it was time to put the black plastic strip on the tool/scissor holder bars. One must be very careful...it is an extraordinarily tight fit. You will chip the particle board (and if lucky like me, the black strip hides that operator error). Just slowly start at one end and slide it on slowly, giving yourself time to lift the top and bottom edges to go over each section as it progresses. Overall, I am very thrilled with this purchase. I'm even going to be able to add an additional shelf on the far right for the kids' craft/scrapbooking papers. Even though it was more money than I really wanted to spend, this desk has all the features I needed for my girls. Ikea and all the big box stores had nothing comparable for utility and price. Forget a name brand furniture store: their stuff is over-priced and not multi-task friendly like the South Shore Artwork Craft Table! ... show more

    • Very heavy, decent construction

This is a great desk. It is very heavy and somewhat complicated to put together, but the instructions are pretty good. I do like putting furniture together, so take what you will from that. The parts all fit together well. I did strip one screw for a handle, but was able to fix it easy enough. There were a couple locking bolts that I couldn't get to lock all the way, but the desk is still very solidly fixed together. The biggest problem was getting the cabinet doors on straight. I never did get them perfect, but they look pretty good. Overall the desk is pretty, has a lot of great storage, plenty of room to work on the top, and is solid. We were missing a couple bolts in the kit when we first put it together, but a quick phone call and the parts were shipped to us. I would recommend this product. ... show more
